Nothing other than it's easier to connect USB C to USB C should you want to connect them to an iPhone with a USB C port. Not sure if that worth the $150 price increase. Oh and the colors are different between models.
It's super annoying, in a usb c world. IMO worth the price over this unless they are $249
Why not just get a lightning to usb-c adapter for like $10? You only need that port for charging. It's not that USB-C is opening up any wonderful wired audio on the new model. Just my 2¢

Lightning actually has more functionality than the usb-c model because you can get a wired connection from a lightning to headphone jack cable. You can't get a wired headphone connection from the USB-C model.
Apple apparently built the DAC into the lighting to headphone cable itself. The USB-C version can't do a wired connection because apparently they didn't create a usb cable with the embedded DAC.

And to make it worse, you can't use their cheap little lightning to aux single, you need a jankier more expensive cable that works in the opposite direction (aux to lightning, not the other way around!)
