Actual bench test with a conservative THD limit at ASR was
This is per channel with both channels driven, so in many cases the available power is even more.
118watts @ 8ohms
183 into 4ohms and fully 2ohm stable.(really good)

With higher THD allowed for (1%THD, dynamic power) it reached 240watts into 4ohms.

This is what you want as generally speakers have lower impedances in the bass and midbass region and in that frequency range music and movies have a lot of energy.

Cheaper amps will not have this type of power ratio and will sound thinner and less powerful in the bass and midbass.
This is a very good amp, it can handle even hard to drive speakers(ones that dip down to 2ohms) and not loose very much dynamic range at all.

I've heard nothing but good things about this amps power ability.

The one downside for some use cases is that it has sub out but no bass management. Bass management is very important to allow the amp to remove the bass from the mains and divert it only to the subwoofer. This is a flaw in the design that can be worked with but really in 2024 this should absolutely have that feature. Some buyers should pass simply because it does not and so other options are better for their set-ups.

Real bench testing showed 118 Watts into 8 ohms so Yamaha is being conservative with their specs.

Minimum RMS Output Power

8 Ohms: 100 W + 100 W (0.019% THD)
6 Ohms: 120 W + 120 W (0.038% THD)

I have electrostats that are super power hungry and claim to require 400 watts into 8 ohms clean power and these drive them perfectly.

I am confused if you already have a receiver the bass management is not needed correct? Or is this more than an amplifier since it seems to have a lot more, looks like an FM tuner. Is this really a 2.1 channel receiver?

This is an integrated amp.
It has a subwoofer line output for connecting an active sub but no way to 'high pass'/remove the low bass from the the L & R channels.
The main channels will always get a full range signal. This is not great.

While I understand what you're saying, I think most people are driving full range speakers with these and not studio monitors. I guess you can use the bass/ treble adjustments on these. For finer adjustments, I'd recommend an external equalizer or a Wiim pro/ ultra. The trade-off would be introducing another component to theoretically degrade signal quality.
