I will never recommend a Sonos sounbar unless there is a better way to use it without the app. Mine was terrible. Always having errors and disconnecting. I really don't think the sound is that good when it is working. My 11.1 Samsung surround system was cheaper and sounded way better in my point of view.
my Wi-Fi system was orbi at the time if anyone cares.
That's a great price. I've been waiting and waiting to upgrade my PLAYBASE to an Arc, and then, of course they come out with the Arc Ultra. Not convinced I need the Ultra, but might future-proof a little more than the Arc?

Own the Playbase too and everything I've researched says the Arc isn't worth the upgrade price. $949 is a decent price for this deal though. Would consider it if I didn't already have the Playbase and a pair of Ones.

Chatted with Sonos and in order to fully experience Dolby Atmos, you need Era 300's as the surrounds. Era 100's are not supported. But, I can keep my SUB Gen 1 because that doesn't apply to Atmos.

We had issues in the beginning with that as well. Sonos has done a much better job with this in the past few years. The APP was awful and they apparently got a ton of crap over it and sent a letter to every registered owner apologizing. It has gotten much better still a little complicated at times but overall we love our Sonos system. Also, they newer units allow voice commands to your system, so you don't always have to use the app.

Fully agree! Airplay is pure crap with these sonos devices with mesh routers!
Take a hard look at the current state of the Sonos app before you dive in.
Not everyone has issues, but many of us do and it's extremely frustrating with no apparent fix in sight. Delays and lag are common if using from the app.
If you will primarily use connected to a TV, and rarely play from a device, you probably won't notice or have issues.
Don't know about airplay but I love my Sonos products and the app thing hasn't been that big of a deal.
Agree the app isn't a big deal. Primary use case is surround sound direct from TV, which doesn't require the app. Beyond setup, I've never used the app even when playing music.

Why not buy the samsung flagship soundbar instead then? Much better sound as well!
Brand new Era 100s can be sold for about 150 apiece giving a price of 649 for Arc ultra. Era 300s for about 300-350 which would bring it to between 549-649 which is excellent price for Arc ultra although some work on reselling required.
I know it's been discussed many times before but looking for feedback between this Sonos set or Samsung's Q990D which is currently priced similarly at $998.
Primary use is to connect to OLED tv in a 15' x 20' living room.
Appreciate any input.

Newb question: do you need the app if you were using this primarily for watching TV? I assume you'd connect your source (Roku, whatever) to the soundbar and run everything that way.
