General contractor here. This is a good deal if you want a cheap cordless tool or if you are already into this battery system, I'm not really familiar with the tools but I certainly know the type.

This is pretty low level stuff, still a stellar deal though, and also manufacturing has just gotten so much better over the last decade or two for things like this so it's probably pretty usable.

Hart was once a legendary hammer brand, Vaughn and Hart were sort of the cool kids on the block on framing jobsites in the 90s, but eventually Hart was purchased and eventually stopped producing anything, the brand was dead, it was later bought again by a Chinese holding company and now they have this deal with Walmart where they're like an in-house Walmart tool brand.

So yes it's a pretty good deal, and yes cheap cordless tools these days are pretty decent compared to a few years back..

But just keep in mind - it's mass produced low end stuff that is wholly engineered for shopping seasons and retail - they aren't tools that are built with professional users in mind

Thanks OP.
In for one. Also, if one of the batteries can go on eBay, I'll reduce my cost further, as I need this for minor projects only.

I have Dewalt and Hart ecosystem. I have picked up a few of their on sale stuff a couple of years back for overlanding because Dewalt doesn't make any of that stuff. This is an excellent deal, and I picked it up just for the batteries. Now, I need the charger to go on sale.

Worth it just for the batteries, esp since hart is sticking around, just walmart brand ryobi.

Amazing price on each individual item. Like the $99 bundles in the past, a heads up that these are hackable as well.

Hart cordless tools are basically Ryobi cordless with a different battery style and slight cosmetic differences. If you look closely, most Hart power tools have a virtually identical Ryobi version at Home Depot. Both are made by TTI Industries, which also makes Ridgid tools for HD. Hart tools have a 3 year warranty, so hardly the season- specific throw away you are suggesting. I have used my Hart tools extensively between my own projects and helping friends and family, and they have held up perfectly. The bias the "pros" have against tools like this prevents them from actually using these and seeing what happens in real world use. I say this also owning Porter-Cable, Ryobi, Ridgid and DeWalt cordless tools, so I have a pretty good basis for comparison.

Just ordered, and this is actually a bundle that can be separated. The driver is $15.11 and the batteries are $40.83, so you should be able to return either one individually if that works for you. I have never tried this at Walmart, so YMMV.

Hart and Ryobi are both made by TTI. However, depending on the tool, one is often better than the other. Based on my experience with them, I would give a slight edge to Hart. but they do make some junk as well.
