1) the device is preloaded with this plan and it can not be transferred (unless you do those future steps
2) even though the device is preloaded it is not activated, you have to activate it via the red card and calling a number or doing the online chat
3) during the activation if you are already a tracphone customer you can stack it with existing tracfone service
3b) or get a new phone number
3c) or transfer your existing phone number via a competitor like mint mobile, the big three (at&t, verizon, t-mobile), or another MVNO
4) once the device is activated your 1 year is counting down (or more than one year if you are a rollover customer with existing tracfone service like previous deals. For example my tracfone services goes until feb 2027 for I have bought previous deals, each new phone had 1 year of service plus data so somehow I got from 2025 to 2026 to 2027 via buying like 3 plus phones over the years for me and my family members, unlocking them and giving them to relatives post the 60 days unlock window)
5) if you want to use this tracfone service with a different phone, you need to buy a $1 to $5 sim at walmart, target, family dollar, dollar general etc other places. This type of sim is called "Tracfone Bring Your Own Phone SIM Kit, No Airtime - Prepaid". You put this sim card in your google pixel phone (or other phone) and then follow the red card which is going to do steps 1 to 4 with your new phone, this in turn transfers your service from the motorola phone to your pixel phone. In theory your motorola should be unlocked in 60 days since it was activated and it just needs to talk to the tracfone / motorola servers. Newer phones use unlock servers similar to iphones for several years now. Some 2023 and earlier android phones do not automatically unlock via wifi after activation with step 4, you had to have service still on the device and then use a tracfone email portal to request an unlock code you enter manually via the number pad.
Any questions ?
Moto G 5G 2024 has smoother screen (120Hz vs 90Hz), stereo speaker, Snapdragon 4 gen 1 is slightly better than Dimensity 6100+ and Moto My UX is basically stock Android

Had to get a phone quick because my phone battery bulged and I couldn't trust it to not die on me. Now I'm up to 20,000 minutes and 7 years of service. I hardly use any minutes or texts, so unlimited is worthless to me.

Plus the SD4 gen 1 is noticeably faster than the Helio G37 for web browsing, loading/rendering maps for navigation, etc.

4 gb of ram, boo!
CPU-Soc is fabulous, the Qualcomm SM4375 Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 (6 nm) Octa-core (2x2.0 GHz Cortex-A78 & 6x1.8 GHz Cortex-A55). There are better chips but this is latest gen basic model that is better than mid 2022 and 2023 mid gen chips still being sold in 2024 phones.
720p screen IPS. Meh but not a downside. 720x 1612 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~267 ppi density)
128 gb storage, good plus a micro sd expansion
fingerprint sensor, camera
eSIM plus traditional sim this is awesome for a budget phone
4g and 5g bands listed below (also does 2 and 3g but carriers are phasing those out)
4G bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 48, 66, 71
5G bands 2, 5, 7, 12, 14, 25, 26, 29, 30, 41, 48, 66, 70, 71, 77, 78 SA/NSA

awesome phone but the ram is its limit and makes it limited even if every spec is awesome or good for this type of price. I have a moto g power 2024 (1 above this in the tier) and if this phone just had 8gb of ram I would be buying a second as a backup / upgrade my dads phone when I can pry him away from his 2022 phone he is happy with.
(my moto g power should unlock in 3 days, bought it a little more than 2 months ago and I was frustrated it took 10 ish days for shipping)
in the fine print which I was looking into 2 months ago it says you need to have a monthly plan of a certain tier before you get official android hotspot. That said when you take this 1 year of service with its 24gb data and then upgrade to the monthly plan then those data should stack , but I am not sure how much data limit is there for hotspot use. Edit see below
They find a way to force upgrades in a good deal (sigh)
āHotspot only available if current service is with an active $40 Unlimited Talk and Text plan. Plan allocates up to 8GB of data for hotspot or data usage.

Need more data when I am visiting folks, one of my uncles we are spending a week with does not have internet with a wire (being cellphone only) for his vision is bad even if he is more than capable in other areas.
