Not computer savvy much at all, but what is the best graphics card could the thunderbolt 4 port handle comfortably with this setup?

I think the i7 will be a heater, wish Intel built cooler chips and gave Apple some competition!

Maybe I'm crazy but over double price for similar performance but a slightly brighter screen doesn't seem like a great deal, unless maybe you are legally blind and only use the laptop in direct sunlight and need 400 nits instead of 250.

the deal is expired as well.

At this price you will be getting a 3 year old premium HP school/business laptop.

Review (The reviewed unit has a different, brighter screen, but they talk about this screen):

https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-...908.0.html

Just note that this review is from 2021.

It should have a premium feeling build, 32GB RAM (DDR4) and a well regarded older Intel i7 CPU. The Intel iris iGPU is far behind current iGPUs for 3D gaming performance, but is fine for email/web/streaming/spreadsheets.

The screen is pretty low end compared to what you should expect from a more modern laptop, but if you don't need a super bright or colorful screen it will do the job.

512GB PCIe SSD is on the small side, but you can easily add an external SSD or make use of cloud storage to supplement the internal SSD.

Battery life is acceptable per the review with 8-11 hours if you keep the screen at half brightness. USB-C charging helps here too allowing you to charge on the go without a large power brick.

If you are looking for a premium chassis and keyboard at a very discounted price point than this laptop will provide that. If you can stretch your budget to $550-$600 you can get a much more modern laptop, but with a less premium feel.

I have this laptop for work. Fair warning, the screen's color gamut sucks. It's washed out.

IMO HP Elitebook is better than the dell latitudes if your used to refurbished business class laptops that are designed to take a beating and come with more premium features. I personally have a G8 class Elitebook but with a ryzen processor I got last year, I paid less than this and it's significantly more powerful. IMO I would look for an 845 G8 which will get you at least a ryzen 5 5650u pro cpu which is almost twice the performance of the Intel chip. Also the integrated graphics is significantly better than Intel.

The chassis is all aluminum so it's solid. No flex. Keyboard is stellar. Speakers are good and webcam is decent. I personally think the screen is plenty bright for 250 nits in fact I often have the brightness turned down. The G8 class is nice because that's around the time the screen bezels were thinner instead of laptops of the past with a solid 1-2 inch gap around the top and bottom of the screen. I personally prefer elitebooks over dell latitude right and even HP ProBook too unless it's like an x360 model or something.
