I know folks some folks here don't like to hear it, but I've started to buy such random sets from one of the Chinese slow shipping sites. Sets exactly like this are $4-$6 (depending on whether you make the cut for $10 free shipping or buy only this and pay $2 for shipping. For years I never used to even consider such sites. But once I tried it, I can't go back. Of course, you have to be judicious about what you buy there. It won't replace Amazon obviously. But something like this set absolutely comes in the category of stuff to buy from there. I've recently bought some random small tools from there and the quality is every bit as good as what you'll get from Lowe's or Home Depot.

It'll take about 8 days to 2 weeks to arrive. But if you are looking to keep such a specialized set only for 'just in case' uses, you can absolutely make do with slow shipping. I don't 'need' this set, but I can see it's worth for random projects around the house. For my use case, I just can't get myself to buy something like this for $18 on 'sale' when I know I can buy something similar all day any day for $6 or less.

They look similar to the husky, they have a nice grip and don't feel cheap

Apex [apextoolgroup.com] the same company that owns/makes Gearwrench makes alot of the Husky hand tools for Home Depot.

I've bought them from HF before, they are small and break/bend easily.
That's why I bought these last deal @$15. This is a nice set, not the best deal but worth it if you need them.
Note: this set does not come with a foam insert. That's just plastic moulding it comes in. I think it is intended as an insert but, it's a little too tall for my desired tool door.

Have no experience with that, but if you wanted to pick locks, you might be better off just buying a lock picking set rather than try to make this work. I'm sure an experienced locksmith or hobbyist can make this work. But if you have to ask whether this will work, my guess is it won't for you. 😊

No. The shafts will be way too thick to enter a keyway.

This is a good price for this set. Looks like Phoinix caught them when they were $15.62, but only 2 upvotes on that post before expiring (so likely very short lived all time low).

Much nicer grips than the super cheap harbor freight ones, but still about 10x the price. For as infrequently as I use picks, it's tough to justify the cost.

I agree. I'm sure this is a good price for a great set IF you are someone who might use such a specialized set frequently. But for most people they'll use probably one pick or hook maybe once a year, and then too it'll not be something that cannot be done without this set.

A metal hook is a metal hook. If you are not a professional, a $3 to $5 set will suffice just fine.

These sets are a handy addition to any tool kit: Endless uses for cleaning wheel axles of any kind(especially if you have a dog!) and crevices.
