The way to get the best deal on this specific model is when you can get it directly from Lenovo low $900s (was $930 before, + $20 off 500 new e-mail signup code) + 10-20% CB (from popular sites) + 15% Chase CB (up to $100 max). That's the way to build this deal into ~$700 range. Otherwise, you can get 75% of this laptop's qualities for 50% of the price via other options (i.e. Lenovo Yoga 7i 14" w/Intel 125U, after all CBs <$500).
The CPU is an upper mid-range Lunar Lake family processor with very good performance in single core workloads which is the majority of the software that you probably run (Unless you have a specific multi-core workload use case). Intel chose to focus on improving energy efficiency with this generation of CPUs rather than increasing the performance compared to the last two generations. This CPU should have plenty of processing power for most people.

While $1000 is a nice discount, the really slick deal here is if you can find an open box excellent ($836) or good ($810) for pickup.
EDIT: I'm seeing open box Excellent $736 and Good $708 near me in Los Angeles.
It's getting really hard to justify not buying this laptop right now.

What are your impressions of the build quality and keyboard/trackpad?
Any insight into whether you get to assume the Lenovo warrantee as well?

Here's a great review from one of my most trusted laptop reviewers:

I am actually in love with this thing, trackpad on par w/ any mac I've ever used, ridiculously good keyboard, and the screen despite being gorgeous is 120Hz. On top of that you can easily get well beyond 10 hours of battery life, I think in some cases up to 18
Typing this from mine hooked up to a Samsung Ark 2 at 4k@165Hz and it drives it like butter

This is a pretty good deal. But I just can't buy a Chinese laptop.
I am amazed at how much processing power Intel managed to squeeze out of each watt of electricity with their Lunar Lake CPUs. AMD finally has a reason to innovate in their consumer CPU department.
All of the Core Ultra 7 2XX_ cpus should be good at single core speeds, ok at multi-core speeds and very power efficient resulting in cooler machines, lower fan noise and improved battery life. Intel's naming convention is subtle here with the 2 at the beginning of the number the only way I can differentiate the Lunar Lake CPUs (Core Ultra 7 256V) from the Meteor Lake CPUs that have a 1 instead (Core Ultra 7 155H).
These Lunar Lake CPUs are supposed to have reasonably good 3D graphics, approaching AMDs Radeon 780 for performance. Have you tried any low - mid range gaming with this machine?
