This is an absolutely amazing book! Can't recommend it enough. This sucked me into the world of Andy Weir. If you liked the Martian, try this.

Great book, though I listened to the audio version on audible.

1. Rendezvous with Rama, which coincidentally is also supposed to be getting a movie adaptation (to to be directed by Denis Villeneuve), and is a trilogy.
2. A Fire Upon the Deep (Vernor Vinge, with two other books in this series)
3. The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress
4. Children of Time (a more recent series I haven't finished yet, but I enjoyed the first book)
5. The Culture series by Iain Banks (this will keep you busy for a while as a fairly large series)

This was $1.99 in June, so if you missed that like me but are also not in a hurry to read it, you can hold out for that price again in the future.

Yep. One of my scifi favorites up there with The Forever War.

Winter World by AG Riddle. It's a very similar premise and solid hard sci-fi.

Hope they (Hollywood) doesn't screw this up. Seeing they cast Ryan Gosling, movie smells like it could be a disaster. Not that Ryan is a bad actor or anything, but he's way too pretty to play Ryland. Nerdy high school science teacher who can't keep a girlfriend? I don't think so. Zachery Levi, John Krasinski, Chris Pratt would all be better choices.
And it's not a 'one and done' movie. Definitely should be a trilogy or its own 10+ part miniseries.

Have you read it? Ryland makes numerous comments about his physical appearance being strangely fit

Fantastic book. Good reality based science with just the right amount of humor.
