Comparing to the $199 Bose you linked on Amazon, the 550 is the better option; the one on Amazon is a lower end model (though based on similar speaker components). The 550 has 3.0.2 channels (vs 2.0), Dolby Atmos, and adds upward aiming speakers. Can't say anything about the Sony.
What's the reason for down voting? I have Vizio soundbar and wants to know if it will be good to switch to this soundbar or not! As per RTings, Vizio M21aH6 performs better than this Bose soundbar.
I have Vizio soundbar with the two rear speakers and the subwoofer and I love it. I think it sounds great and the sound is all over the place. I enjoyed it with TV with Bluetooth streaming and movies. Fantastic all around soundbar.
Bought this direct from Bose a few weeks ago for $184. It's going back. Even though my Sony 9.2 receiver and speakers are 15 years old, it obliterates this (and likely any) soundbar. Sure, I don't have Atmos processing, but with proper setup, the sound is rich, full, and enveloping. The Bose didn't sound bad, per se, but it felt flat and underwhelming by comparison. (Dialogue was good, however.) I'd recommend just trying to pick up a good full setup used before a soundbar any day.
If you've never had anything beyond a cheap soundbar or tv speakers, this is probably good enough.

I have a full theater, but still bought this sound bar, I'm not putting a full theater setup in every room in my house. Your comparison is apples and oranges
I'm looking to set up my first sort of ht in my living room, or at least get some decent sound. Should I go for this Bose soundbar, or this magnat speakers deal(https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/1039677 )?Is one significantly better value than the other? Feel free to enlighten me here. Not looking to spend too much rn, and would definitely want to upgrade to something crazier the future regardless.
Getting FOMO out of this deal and am trying to find a soundbar to go with a new S90C we bought thanks to Slickdeals. It sounds like I should aim for a higher budget though especially if a good Atmos experience is important to us
Get this and call it good. No soundbar is going to give you a good atmos experience. If you want that you have to go all out with a receiver, and actual overhead atmos speakers.
Anyone using this with their PC. I have a little soundbar from Creative and it's okay but it's certainly lacking in bass and clarity. Does the Optical In still do Atmos? Wondering if this would be a good fit for underneath my ultra wide monitor.
I have a weird setup with my tv and computer next to each other. I wonder if you can plug in both the earc input for the tv and optical for the computer and switch between the two? I don't use the tv and computer at the same time so one would always be off
