Bought my 1st Gretsch in March of 2024 at Guitar Center and certainly won't be my last! Awesome guitar! Been playing for 30 years and wish I had bought a Gretsch sooner! I absolutely LOVE IT! Between my Fender Jazzmasters, Stratocasters, Telecasters, and acoustics, this one really stands out. Super easy to play and has a wonderful sound plugged in or not. Smilie
You will see I paid $599 for mine. You can't go wrong with this guitar IMHO.

I always hear that Gretsch guitars have a sound of their own. Will this guitar have "that Gretsch" sound everyone is talking about?

most likely no, according to information online, these are closer to regular humbuckers, than to Filter'Trons, that are usually associated with the "Gretsch Sound".

I love the tone on these pickups. Nails the AC/DC sound with the right overdrive.

I really don't like this color, but it's so much cheaper than this deal:

For $200 maybe I can live with the color, someone help me out because I'm on the fence.

These are different guitars. Different pickups (check youtube for sound comparison), different series. Electromatic is considered step up from Streamliner, they have better hardware (metal vs plastic knobs, etc.). Streamliners are made in Indonesia, Electromatics in China.

These deals are posted pretty regularly. If you just want a good guitar for the money, I'd wait for another Streamliner deal in a color and configuration you like more. Watch some youtube videos to get familiar with the offerings so you know what you're looking at when it comes up.

I have both a Streamliner (G2622 with BT-2S and no Bigsby) and an Electromatic (G5210 with P90s and a Bigsby). The made in China Electromatic has better hardware and a prettier finish, but at least on mine the fret ends aren't as tidy and the tuners are weird. Both guitars are great, but I actually prefer the Streamliner, it plays better.

Unless you really want a vibrato, go for a hardtail version. If you're on the fence, it's added cost, weight and complication and makes tuning less stable.
