So I bought one of these last week and it arrived yesterday. My initial thoughts/observations on it:
- It's very quiet, even during games
- It's lightweight and compact, easily fits in my backpack
- It has windows hello and a fingerprint reader
- It gets pretty toasty gaming, but I haven't noticed throttling
- The UHD MiniLED screen is incredible and has a nice matte finish but 4K feels a little overkill for 16"
- There was minimal bloatware - had to remove Norton and some Microsoft crap
- The RTX 4080 at 105W is pretty meh - but does outperform my 4060 laptop, just not by a huge margin and most apps need to be run at 2560 x 1600 to get the best FPS
- Keys feel nice and the backlighting from Steelseries is cool, the numpad is a nice inclusion too
- Speakers are clear, but the bass is lacking (even with Nahimic tweaking), definitely not as impressive as the G16 or Yoga Pro 9i
- MSI's software is intuitive, though changing the user modes does some weird stuff with the NVIDIA app that has to be manually tweaked
- The power adapter plug (that isn't a 90 degree angle) on the right side doesn't quite get in the way of my mouse, but it's a stupid place for it anyway.
- It came with 2 power adapters, so that was a nice surprise
All in all, I think this price point is about right... It's a rip off at $3,200 but a decent value at $1950.
