This thing has power settings right? Does that mean you can lower the torque if you just need to work on lugs on a sedan? I was thinking about getting the mid torque but why not go big if they're almost the same price and in the future you start doing suspension or whatever else and you have that headroom with the high torque vs the mid.

High torques are very capable, but they are huge and heavy. In comparison, mid-torques can get practically everything done, fit in tighter places, and are much easier and more comfortable to wield.

Question. I'm not a mechanic. I understand why one may need the nut busting capabilities of this high powered tool. But what would one need the huge fastening torque capabilities for a monster tool like this? Honest question. I would think this would just permanently seize any nut/bolt due to it's massive power if used full blast.

Buyer beware you might need to get a nightstand because you're gonna find yourself randomly itching to press the trigger, it's sounds amazingSmilie
This ^^^ I have the Ryobi high impact torque I leave it in the back room and I press the trigger every time I look at it. I'd probably do with this Milwaukee more often.

GEN2 Mid-torque + bat also on sale but for $199, tempting.. no way my black & decker can last forever.

May as well keep waiting til GEN3 stuff is on this level of sale tho, eh?
I keep using the battery end of my B&D as a hammer yet it still works.
Bought it at Walmart to do a task ~8 years ago intending to return it and missed the window.
Too often we think we need the best when in reality a junky little 12v will do the job.

Mechanics like to use these to put your lug nuts on, instead of using a torque wrench, so that you are forced to buy your own to get them back off.

These are not a one size fits all applications tool. Once you purchase the nut buster, you will be looking for a mid-sized one. Then back for the side ratchet or m12.

have it shipped to store...HD just sent me the battery with no tool. Says the label says correct weight, nothing we can do for you. The label is prepaid from the guy who packed it in HD warehouse. Think he took my tool home with him. FEDEX can't tell me what the actual weight of the package was...put in a claim with fedex and my CC. hopefully i get some cash back. Pick it up in store for now on and open the box at the counter, don't get screwed like i did!

LOL wut?
This is a 1/2" rated impact. LOL It's not even a big one.
You do know that they make them much bigger than that, right?
take a look at some of the 3/4" and 1" sized impacts that are much larger than this one.

We use these, and larger impacts to fasten A325 (structural bolts) and mechanical anchors all day long.

I meant within automotive field. I would assume, as you said, for something like construction, larger tools would be needed.

What would a diyer need this for besides flexing to neighbors?

But then again, I had to bust out my mid torque for the first time on an anode rod bolt recently.
Sometimes you just have to show them who's tool is bigger.

Honda crankshaft bolt. A couple years ago I got a few false starts on changing the timing belt on my Honda because I could not get that bolt off. I tried the starter method as well as a breaker bar with the extensions supported by jack stands. None of those worked. The Milwaukee high torque got it off in less than 5 seconds.
