Sure, it's a cheapo Insignia with little to offer, but who would have thought we'd ever see an 85" tv for $600? Buy now, since there are dark days ahead.

Not a movie junkie, just picked one up to replace a 2500 dollar Samsung 85" that my son threw the remote through. 100% not buying high end ever again. Rather buy 5 of these. If they don't last as long, so be it
I hope you invited your son to find a new place to live…

Bought one of these for $550 on Black Friday, basic but gets the job done. Definitely would rather have Roku than Fire TV, but its not the worst UI i've experienced. I do enjoy how FireTV has all the recent shows and movies you've watched right on the home screen so you can resume them directly without having to find the app you were watching them on first. It does love to advertise Prime shows a lot though.
No regrets so far, if it lasts a few years i will consider it money well spent.

We've had the 75" F50 for a couple months now, and so far we're happy with it. The FireTV UI matches or beats the FireStick 4K max in terms of responsiveness. The backlight is reasonably flat and free from egregious hot or dark spots. We have not found viewing angles to be limited at all, in fact you can view it just fine from pretty extreme angles in my opinion. Really, no gripes other than plugging in the 1/8" TRS headphone jack automatically disabling the onboard speakers or soundbar. We previously used our TV for amazon music to play our whole house speakers. That one issue aside, the TV has been great. We did pick up the extended warranty too, just in case.

Was debating between this one or the qled TLC for $729 also at Best Buy. Is it worth the $130 more? Also does anyone know if you can use the one time first purchase 20% Citi Best Buy card for these?

I'd rather have a fire tv over google or vizio all day. Matter of fact the one fire tv I have runs much smoother than my roku as well
Opposite experience for me. While I don't mind the faster Roku standalone device, I have had very few issues (can be counted on one hand) with my current Phillips google TV.

Comes down to preference, I guess.

While I am a little of a "sound and picture" snob, I have realized that calibration goes a long way with these cheap TVs. I have a decent sound setup though so that may also be elevating the experience.

Rtings [rtings.com] says it's "an alright TV overall". Some downsides, but definitely not bad at this size/price.
Rting imo is no longer reputable as they put way way way too much emphasis on one aspect (local dimming) of tv and ignores the rest in their scoring.

I completely agree. If everything else is perfect with the tv, but it does not have enough local dimming zones, they will give it a bad rating.

Yuck, no 4:4:4 chroma for crispy PC text...
Thanks for confirming this. I would potentially upgrade to this size for around this price, but since I use my TV with my PC, this is important to me.

What is a good reference site then?

unfortunately I don't know of any other site... best you can do is take RTing with a grain of salt and read customer reviews. Customers reviews are almost always the most accurate in technology reviews as they are most likely unbiased reviewers.
