Do not order from this company. I fell for it on the last deal and it has been an absolute nightmare.

The first bike arrived damaged and unusable. They refused to honor their return policy, insisting that I either repair it myself (they sent me a link to a YouTube video wtf) or bring it to a mechanic at my own risk. Suffice to say, I opened a credit card dispute and am still fighting to retain my credit.

The second bike hadn't been shipped when the issues with the first began, so I requested a cancellation, which they confirmed. Then they shipped it anyway. I refused the delivery. It arrived at their facility 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received a refund. Another dispute was opened and I'm having to deal with that now.

Edit: just checked and the first dispute was finally resolved in my favor just this morning. Now on to the second dispute…

Stay as far away from Mendham Bikes as you can. HORRIBLE company. I trust SD's and have never been burned....until the last Mendham deal. It's been a horrendous and miserable experience that has cost a dozen or so hours thus far.

I ordered one of the Able bikes in the last deal. About three weeks went by between the time of the order and when I realized I hadn't received the bike. Meanwhile, they spammed the heck out of my email account with other "promotions". I emailed the general customer service email address demanding they provide me an update. No response. About another week goes by and I get a "your order shipped" email notification. Great! Fantastic! Except that a few hours after receiving that email, I got a retraction saying they had made a mistake and my order hadn't shipped.

I emailed them to demand cancellation of the order based on the long wait and my spidey senses telling me something was off. I actually got a response within a few hours that acknowledged my request and told me the order would be cancelled. Guess what? The next day, Mendham shipped the bike. Geez. When I got the shipment notification, I started checking the tracking and noticed it took them more than a day to actually ship the bike (they just issued tracking by creating a shipping label). In the interim, I again emailed them about cancellation and warned them not to ship. No response. The bike arrived and box and interior parts were beat to hell. I put in a dispute with my credit card company, who immediately issued a confirmation of successful dispute, a sign they know what Mendham is up to. I tried several more times to demand they take the bike back. They finally responded on the third email and asked for a huge list of items. I took the bike to a charity that fixes up bikes and gives to kids in need. I'll just rely on my CC underwriter.

Please save yourself from the same headaches and from having to write an equally painful testimonial on SD by just skipping this "deal". It's not a deal and if you research online, you find the bikes are junk anyways.

It's mid-drive. They require substantially less power than hub drives. They also tend to be more expensive than hub drives.

Anyone who has purchased this bike from previous deal comment on its quality and if its worth it at this price?

I ordered from them, a few days wait then they shipped. $299 bike. Arrived in a nice box & I only needed to put on the pedals (5 minutes) are marked for right & left. Battery came charged. Charged it just in case. Took it for a ride, motor didn't kickin.

Wrote the manufacturer, no response.

Wrote Wyndham, they responded with a ticket number. No response.

Took it to a bike shop listed on the manufacturers website as one of their service facilities. The shop owner didn't know anything about that. They don't do electric bikes. Fiddled with it, couldn't get the motor to work.

Rode home, hit a few bumps, bike motor started working. Lol I think it was the wiring behind the seat.

Still no answer from the companies

Why did you order from them again after getting screwed over the first time? I'm surprised you didn't get blacklisted by them after the 1st dispute... 🤔
Both orders were placed within 5 minutes of each other.

Are you suggesting that poor people who live there 5-finger discount it?
I think he was referring to the california ebike incentive program.
The California E-Bike Incentive Project provides up to $2,000 of point-of-sale incentives to support the purchase of a new electric bicycle (e-bike). Max income to qualify was 33K per year. 1500 vouchers were available and all were claimed within 1 minute.

To balance negative comments here, let me share my experience with Mendham Bikes. I bought Able RBL Sport from them for $168. It took 2 weeks to get my bike, box was beaten, very minor scratches on frame, but for that price I don't care. After assembling and tuning everything functions well. I use it to replace car to get to the gym or grocery store. Overall it's positive experience for me. YMMV, looks like a lottery. Support was responsive, Kent International answered my questions about shipping
Edit: found the post I bought from. Read last 2 pages, some other people sharing their experience as well

More like 5 seconds. I clicked on it at 6pm, couldn't get a response. After about 5 clicks, a system message, then no response. No way 1500 people clicked in 5 seconds.

Only $1750. Others with food stamp income would get $250 more
More vouchers to come.

Mendham is part of the same group of "companies" as Kent and Giordano, which have had many SDs posted this year. You can see for yourself that lot of Kents and Giordanos now redirect to Mendham for sales.

I'll say this loud for the people in the back: Anyone expecting customer service needs to buy bikes from their local bike shop instead of a bottom dollar Internet retailer.

Seriously, what the heck do you expect when you get a bike for $200 that sells for $600 at your LBS?

You will get a box straight out of the container, and there may be some scratches here and there, because they're already sold near cost and have no room to discount for scratch and dent. The box will be dented up because bikes are heavy, especially ebikes, and they don't pay the UPS guy enough to load and unload them with utmost care. You will have to assemble it yourself. You will have to adjust all the gears and brakes yourself, which means you have to know how to do that. Especially on ebikes, stuff may have come loose in shipping so you may have to open it up and reseat all the electrical connectors.

This means that you will have to learn how to do these things if you don't already know.

And if you want someone else to do all of them for you, well, that's why the LBS charges hundreds more dollars for an equivalent bike.

I can't help but notice that the people who complain about bad CS are complaining that they cancelled an order but got a bike anyway, or that the bike took a few weeks to ship so they got cold feet. This is what happens for any product where you shop absolute bottom dollar. You are getting a bike that sells for $1000+ anywhere else for $450, which means they're being sold either at a loss or at a tiny margin that doesn't give them any time to hold your hand. Their "Customer Service" is probably one guy in India or Eastern Europe.

THESE BIKES ARE NOT "JUNK". Hundreds of SDers have ordered these bikes and they work just fine. If you don't know how or do not have the tools to adjust brakes and derailleurs, change a flat, assemble a handlebar/stem combo while keeping proper tension on the headset, then you need to not mail-order bottom dollar Internet bikes.

That said, there is one potential problem with this specific bike: Mendham doesn't sell spare batteries. The Bafang M400 is a standard motor and there are plenty of 36V batteries that will connect to it, but I don't know if the batter this bike uses is one of the standard form factors (or is shared with another common ebike). But most people don't ride their bike often enough to cycle the battery 500+ times: they store it full in a hot garage and then it dies on its own. Leave your ebike at 30-50% charge unless you're riding it, and take the battery inside if the alternative is a 95+ degree garage.

I hope all the people who jumped on this excellent deal enjoy their bikes!

This is a really good deal. If I didn't already have 4 bikes...and if it were 48v.... Heck if it was more than 250w, I'd buy it.

I suspect that the used maketplace was soon flooded with ebikes being turned into cash (like the grocery carts full of steaks on a certain day of the month).

what is the realistic range that can be expected out of this bike at pedal assist level 1 setting assuming I live in a not so flat terrain?

Did you mean to say its a good deal at this price or only if it was above 250 watts. I am on the fence for my first ever electric bike. so, would need some pointers to decide if i should pull the trigger although I do understand some did mention not so favourable experience. I am hoping that I can always fall back on my credit card protection if it ends up being a dud/ damaged just in worst case that I am not able to resolve any potential issue.

This is a ridiculous take. It's completely reasonable to expect to receive a functioning product and for the company to honor the return policy they've posted on their own website. As soon as they start giving their products out for free is when I'll give them a pass.

I think it's a good deal the way it sits. I just have 4 bikes already so couldn't convince myself to buy it lol.
I actually have a Univega I ordered from Mendham just a couple months ago and I really love it, I think the people here who had bad experiences just got unlucky. Hopefully shipping isn't as bad considering it's already too late for the Christmas rush.

No, it takes 2 months to process & only certain bikes qualify & must come fully assembled.
