Do not order from this company. I fell for it on the last deal and it has been an absolute nightmare.

The first bike arrived damaged and unusable. They refused to honor their return policy, insisting that I either repair it myself (they sent me a link to a YouTube video wtf) or bring it to a mechanic at my own risk. Suffice to say, I opened a credit card dispute and am still fighting to retain my credit.

The second bike hadn't been shipped when the issues with the first began, so I requested a cancellation, which they confirmed. Then they shipped it anyway. I refused the delivery. It arrived at their facility 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received a refund. Another dispute was opened and I'm having to deal with that now.

Edit: just checked and the first dispute was finally resolved in my favor just this morning. Now on to the second dispute…

Stay as far away from Mendham Bikes as you can. HORRIBLE company. I trust SD's and have never been burned....until the last Mendham deal. It's been a horrendous and miserable experience that has cost a dozen or so hours thus far.

I ordered one of the Able bikes in the last deal. About three weeks went by between the time of the order and when I realized I hadn't received the bike. Meanwhile, they spammed the heck out of my email account with other "promotions". I emailed the general customer service email address demanding they provide me an update. No response. About another week goes by and I get a "your order shipped" email notification. Great! Fantastic! Except that a few hours after receiving that email, I got a retraction saying they had made a mistake and my order hadn't shipped.

I emailed them to demand cancellation of the order based on the long wait and my spidey senses telling me something was off. I actually got a response within a few hours that acknowledged my request and told me the order would be cancelled. Guess what? The next day, Mendham shipped the bike. Geez. When I got the shipment notification, I started checking the tracking and noticed it took them more than a day to actually ship the bike (they just issued tracking by creating a shipping label). In the interim, I again emailed them about cancellation and warned them not to ship. No response. The bike arrived and box and interior parts were beat to hell. I put in a dispute with my credit card company, who immediately issued a confirmation of successful dispute, a sign they know what Mendham is up to. I tried several more times to demand they take the bike back. They finally responded on the third email and asked for a huge list of items. I took the bike to a charity that fixes up bikes and gives to kids in need. I'll just rely on my CC underwriter.

Please save yourself from the same headaches and from having to write an equally painful testimonial on SD by just skipping this "deal". It's not a deal and if you research online, you find the bikes are junk anyways.

It's mid-drive. They require substantially less power than hub drives. They also tend to be more expensive than hub drives.

Both bike have frame damage we received. One also has broken spokes on the tire. The way they are packaged is a very poor design. Expected better packaging design from such a large manufacturer (Kent). The bikes just float around inside the shipping box. No foam blocking or anything in places their probably should be. The reason the tire broke is because it's weaved into the peddle assembly creating Alot of stress on the wheel spokes.

Reaching out to the seller. We will see how this goes.

Of which part? The front drop out on one side is completely pinched. Seems like it took one hell of a drop. Again no foam blocking on that location which is in direct contact with the bottom of the box. And the other bike is busted spokes and front frame forks are bent out of alignment very noticeable. I mean I guess it's from FedEx shipping but who knows.. this box must have been thrown around and dropped all over the place for this type of damage. That or it was shipped defective. Also as another customer noted previously. The original staples were missing on one of the boxes and it was tapped instead.


these are all drop shipped from Kent. so it's not the sellers fault unless they know Kent is sending out pre-damaged bikes. I dunno how they keep up with this business with such awful packaging...no wonder they have so many poor reviews.

Mainly the area of interest is the condition of the box and packaging and also the damaged spokes and any other parts of the bike that's mangled.

Also as others have suggested. No UL stickers on the battery assembly anywhere.



also finding more bent areas the more I check things over. back drop out also bent in where the Shimano gear is attached.

might be exceptionally bad for me as I had two boxes in shipment that probably got stacked and banged around with each other.

Why do so many people argue against taking the time to properly assemble, adjust, and check a new bicycle? Do you want people to be riding bikes that function poorly, need more maintenance, or could injure them?

Which is another reason I speculate that these are customer returns. Since I have never seen a new bike from a manufacturer just bare in a box. Generally they are literally encased in foam. Mendham even explicitly tells you they aren't factory new in box.

"It's being checked for quality, and pre-assembled to make your life easier when it shows up to your door."

So at a minimum, they "pre-assembled" it for you.

Mendham is Kent. They are the same company. Just look at the kent.com website and they list Mendham as one of their brands. So they know what they are themselves doing.

I must be tripping here but I swore I read on mendhams product page for this bike that it's brand new and in manufacturer's original packaging. seems very apparent they're lying.

They do. I would make sure you save a copy of their listing for this bike just in case you need to file a dispute with your credit card company. You never know if it'll still be up later.

Yes there is a front fender. I hadn't put it on yet when I took the pic.
The brakes work fine and are indeed hydraulic. The only problem is the front calipers are not mounted to the fork out of the box so you have to do your own mounting which took a little time to finagle so that it didn't rub up against the disc.
Not sure about disc diameter.

No that is just the reflection. Head tube looks okay. I can see why that other guy got a broken spoke though. The crank arm is threaded through the spoke when they package it. Sounds dangerous to me.

So I guess your bike came in the same packing condition as the other person's. It didn't have the factory foam and was just a bike loose in the box. Is that right? Was your box sealed with staples or was it just taped shut? Also, it is a specific box to this model of bike or just a generic bike box? A post from someone else seem to indicate it was just a generic box. Which would explain why it's not packed like a new bike would be. They don't have the packing materials for it.

No it was packaged properly it seems to me. Everything was new, foam wrapped around bike frame, zip ties everywhere. There were big gashes on the box though, looked to be taped back together by Fedex after they manhandled it. I got over 10 ebikes so seen that a lot.
