Do not order from this company. I fell for it on the last deal and it has been an absolute nightmare.

The first bike arrived damaged and unusable. They refused to honor their return policy, insisting that I either repair it myself (they sent me a link to a YouTube video wtf) or bring it to a mechanic at my own risk. Suffice to say, I opened a credit card dispute and am still fighting to retain my credit.

The second bike hadn't been shipped when the issues with the first began, so I requested a cancellation, which they confirmed. Then they shipped it anyway. I refused the delivery. It arrived at their facility 2 weeks ago and I still haven't received a refund. Another dispute was opened and I'm having to deal with that now.

Edit: just checked and the first dispute was finally resolved in my favor just this morning. Now on to the second dispute…

Stay as far away from Mendham Bikes as you can. HORRIBLE company. I trust SD's and have never been burned....until the last Mendham deal. It's been a horrendous and miserable experience that has cost a dozen or so hours thus far.

I ordered one of the Able bikes in the last deal. About three weeks went by between the time of the order and when I realized I hadn't received the bike. Meanwhile, they spammed the heck out of my email account with other "promotions". I emailed the general customer service email address demanding they provide me an update. No response. About another week goes by and I get a "your order shipped" email notification. Great! Fantastic! Except that a few hours after receiving that email, I got a retraction saying they had made a mistake and my order hadn't shipped.

I emailed them to demand cancellation of the order based on the long wait and my spidey senses telling me something was off. I actually got a response within a few hours that acknowledged my request and told me the order would be cancelled. Guess what? The next day, Mendham shipped the bike. Geez. When I got the shipment notification, I started checking the tracking and noticed it took them more than a day to actually ship the bike (they just issued tracking by creating a shipping label). In the interim, I again emailed them about cancellation and warned them not to ship. No response. The bike arrived and box and interior parts were beat to hell. I put in a dispute with my credit card company, who immediately issued a confirmation of successful dispute, a sign they know what Mendham is up to. I tried several more times to demand they take the bike back. They finally responded on the third email and asked for a huge list of items. I took the bike to a charity that fixes up bikes and gives to kids in need. I'll just rely on my CC underwriter.

Please save yourself from the same headaches and from having to write an equally painful testimonial on SD by just skipping this "deal". It's not a deal and if you research online, you find the bikes are junk anyways.

It's mid-drive. They require substantially less power than hub drives. They also tend to be more expensive than hub drives.

I should add I love how light this bike. Nice Al frame. Wish it had a throttle though.

Which is another reason I speculate that these are customer returns. Since I have never seen a new bike from a manufacturer just bare in a box. Generally they are literally encased in foam. Mendham even explicitly tells you they aren't factory new in box.

"It's being checked for quality, and pre-assembled to make your life easier when it shows up to your door."

So at a minimum, they "pre-assembled" it for you.
The bike has the front tire and handle bars off. The tire is weaved into the petal assembly and zip ties to the side. The handle bars are attached by the wiring and zip tied to the side. There is minor foam padding about magazine thick wrapped and tapped to spots. Then that is just dropped in a box. I'm not familiar with how bikes are shipped in general this all might be a common packaging technique.

I will say the white large zip ties have yellowed heavily. The foam seems more brittle then usual as well. I didn't check Havens website for a model year in the bike but they may be real old stock

Also be careful when assembling the hex bolts for the handle bars. One of mine had a bad tap and won't thread. Only cross threads

So I guess your bike came in the same packing condition as the other person's. It didn't have the factory foam and was just a bike loose in the box. Is that right? Was your box sealed with staples or was it just taped shut? Also, it is a specific box to this model of bike or just a generic bike box? A post from someone else seem to indicate it was just a generic box. Which would explain why it's not packed like a new bike would be. They don't have the packing materials for it.
Original manufacturers box. I just think it's poorly packaged for modern day underpaid delivery services.

I watched some other packaging images/videos. It seems to be semi inline with the common approach. But they lack a firm bottom in the box. As well as something to stabilize and brace the forks. I also do not recall any lithium battery warning sticker in the shipping box. If they had a large one it might add more handling care to the delivery.

Mendham is Kent. They are the same company. Just look at the kent.com website and they list Mendham as one of their brands. So they know what they are themselves doing.

No it was packaged properly it seems to me. Everything was new, foam wrapped around bike frame, zip ties everywhere. There were big gashes on the box though, looked to be taped back together by Fedex after they manhandled it. I got over 10 ebikes so seen that a lot.
That's good to hear. So it's not just a bike banging around in a box.

These bikes are "Haven" branded bikes. Mendham is most likely a drop shipper. They get pricing and items from Kent directly or the rebranded "manufacturer". They do not stock anything id imagine. Another reason allot of these ebike websites are very similar. They are provided with templates etc to use often.
Mendham is Kent. They are the same company. So Mendham to Kent is like the Apple Store to Apple. Look at the Mendham brand in the lower right.

But it is... And the worst part is the front forks are taking impact instead of a front tire.

I placed my order on 12/24. Received my fedex tracking on 1/3. But for some reason FedEx cannot find my tracking number even now. Did anyone else experience the same?

Thanks for this insight. Kent customer support reached back out when i called in to Mendham directly. Will update on the resolution process.

Anyone receiving these bikes let me know if they put LION stickers on the boxes. Ours did not...and its required by FedEx..a boom boom sticker might help keep handling better on shipments.

Also these are 2021-2022 manufacturer models. So they have been sitting around awhile.

Yepp. They sent me a UPS tracking number, but linked it to FedEx:

If yours starts with "1Z" try copy/pasting the tracking number into UPS: https://www.ups.com/track?loc=en_...uester=ST/.

Considering how badly the other poster's bikes were packed, how was yours? Was it just the bike in a bare box as well?
I took mine to my local bike shop on Friday and they just pulled it out of the box and found that the fork was damaged. They recommended that I contact the seller and have them send me a new fork. I spoke to customer service, and he asked me to send him photos of the damage, and then he said he will check with the warehouse "down south" to see if they have a fork for this particular bike and that he will get back to me in 1-2 business days. I expressed concern about the 10 day return window and he said since I talked to him "it's good" and that I "don't need to worry about it".. I guess I'll give him the 2 days and if he doesn't get back to me I'll have to send it back. Below are the pictures the shop sent me..
Does anyone know if the return shipping is free?
Thanks!

Well that stinks!
It shouldn't matter what their policy is on who pays for return shipping. If they delivered a defective bike then it is their responsibility to make it right. - on their dime.

If they cannot do that, then they'll need to provide you with a prepaid return label. Otherwise file a chargeback with your credit card company. They did not supply you with what you ordered and paid for, and they implicitly promised - a new undamaged bike.

Sorry you're having to deal with this and fingers crossed that mine shows up in better condition. It baffles me that companies send out easily damaged goods without adequate packing. The customer service and replacement costs have got to outweigh the cost of packing them correctly.

Thank you, I appreciate your comments, it does bum me out but I did read all the comments and threads so knew it was a possibility.

It's not just required by FedEx. It's required by law. It's illegal to ship something with a lithium ion battery without them. I'm dismayed that a big company like Kent does not comply with the law.
