I wouldn't exactly say nothing, just not as much. No fuel passing over the back side of the valves is only part of the equation. You still have fuel injectors, and fuel injectors on DI engines can be even more prone to fouling than port injected. This is due to a combination of both the holes the fuel sprays thru being finer on a high pressure injector, and those tips being subjected to carbon buildup and such being that they are in the combustion chamber. Whether one is a fan of these type products or think they are snake oil, having zero effect on the intake and backside of the valves is the only difference on a DI engine. The rest all the same.

Sure, but there are better more targeted products for di engines versus this valve cleaner which is specifically made to clean valves with port injection.

If you buy over $49, shipping is free. if you're buying car parts, it'll easily go over that. The great thing about this website is you'll get a lifetime free replacement if you return the old parts (has to be the part you purchased from FCPEuro)

Only if you go to off brand gas stations and drive slow.

Some newer cars have both but your point stands for the majority of newer vehicles.

Interesting that the picture on the bottle seems to show direct injection intake valves being cleaned. Look at those sparkles! Snake oil salesmen going to be snake oil salesmen. All the tank additives tend to make direct injection intake valve deposit insignificantly but just barely measurably worse. This statement excludes things such as d-4s dual injection systems.

Give berryman B12 a shot. It's sold at Walmart for less than $5 a can. Add a can to a full tank before a long trip.

Liqui moly makes some good products that are recommended by Euro motorcycle manufacturers. I haven't used this particular product but the by and large only car manufacturer endorsed fuel system cleaner is Techron which is an additive in Top Tier branded, Chevron fuels and some other some brands. No fuel system cleaner is going to fix a current problem, it's a preventative measure and there is no downside to a fuel system cleaner added once a year if you're hanging on to a vehicle long term, especially if the car primarily sees stop and go, round town use.

The reality is…. Nothing. If the fuel gets directly injected into the cylinder it doesn't make contact with the part of the intake valve that gets deposits, thus it can't clean. So therefore, no real product can clean it since it doesn't go there.

If you want injector cleaner, eh, that's fine. Gasoline is already a solvent and has detergents in it so no real need. I like chevron techron as that's the detergent that goes in gas already …. But do you need it? Probably not
