Dang, some pretty decent prices on good cases. Wish these were the normal prices, I'd start using these in more projects!

Dumb question:
I'm looking for a hard case for my WD easystore external hard drive.
The Nanuk 910 has an interior space 13.2 x 9.2 x 4.1" and the WD easystore drive has a dimension of 5.5 x 2.0 x 6.7 in.
4.1"-2.0"=2.1", which means there's only about one inch thick of foam per side. Is that enough for protecting my hard drive from being thrown by airport handlers? I'm wondering how thick of the foam is considered enough?
Which model is the better option for my hard drive?

The thickness of this type of foam (high density) won't matter as much as how securely it's held in the foam. You don't want it to have any vertical or horizontal movement within the case.

As an aside, these cases are great. I prefer nanuk to pelican, except for in the most extreme of situations (rooftop mounts, expeditions, etc)

Thank you! Baggage handlers can be quite "extreme", though, but I think the Nanuk cases should still work well.

I bought the 910 for my camera (Canon EOS R100) it fits without issue. *with the 45mm lens there's a lot of room.

These are great cases. Used a 930 on the back of my KLR650 for 3 years. Never leaked, cracked, or had latch failures despite the sun, rain, and crashes.

External HDD are getting pretty small these days. Id opt for the smallest you can find, transfer everything over, and just put it in your carry on.

How do these compare to the harbor freight cases? Honestly these look worse judging off pictures alone

I've been using Nanuk for my drones for years. Honestly to compare these to the Harbor Freight is akin to Temu knockoffs. The plastics and quality of the latches is by far superior. Comes down to what you prefer, some people prefer the price of Temu stuff and don't care about the quality. If all you're looking for is a case to hold stuff that's not that valuable, Harbor Freight cases are absolutely fine.

As others have said, these are in a completely different league than the Apache ones from Harbor Freight. The plastic used on the Apache latches is brittle and weak, and the latching itself isn't that great, with people complaining it pops undone too easily. These latch mechanisms are the real deal, the foam is much better and doesn't fall apart, and the plastic shell is made with much better quality than Apache

With that said, for many, the Apache ones from Harbor Freight will probably do just fine to provide enough protection from shock, vibration, and exposure to rain

Any mold issues with these? I always seen to find complaints about it with these types of cases for some reason.

I compared Nanuk and Pelican side by side and went with the Nanuk, it looks and feels better than Pelican . If you found good deal on Nanuk go for it

I was able to backorder a lime of the 910 on Amazon. A 933 in black could also be backordered at these prices.
