Pretty sure Apple TV app exists on platforms outside of just Apple products…

Maybe I'm foolish, but I trust that Apple will be around much longer than me or my Blu-rays, as much as I love them. Nothing is guaranteed in life, of course, but I've never had any of my digital movies taken away. I have, however, had some of my Blu-rays lost or scratched or rotted (yes, discs can "rot"). Many of my HD-DVDs are ruined due to rot.

No Physical media not a deal... no guarantee your paid movies will stay just like other platforms are doing
They are in your library so just like movies you purchased they wouldn't go away without a lawsuit.
Movies are taken away without lawsuits.

Microsoft as an example:

Not on mobile devices. There's no Apple TV app for Android phones or tablets. Only AndroidTV

What kind of climate do you live in? I recently just ripped a bunch of my CDs from the 90s. Only a small amount had disk rot. I still have some HD DVDs as well, and I would say most are fine. What sucks about digital is you're just buying a license to use it which can be taken away. Just look what Sony did to their customers. It's better to have physical media that you can back up, and lend out if you want. That being said I do have a bunch of purchases on VUDU, and if they decide to take away my licenses then I'm messed up! Life is full of risks I guess.

How on earth did they pick 100 movies and not have one single movie worth watching?!?
Indiscriminately trash-talking all of them is doing them and us a disservice. There are famous movies in the list, and also some that can be thought as "cult" movies, well, maybe not in your neck of woods in the year 2024, but solid nonetheless. Even if you only watch ten or so, depending on the genres you prefer, it would be a good deal.

That's why you rip your own bluray movies. The quality is much better than illegal download out there.

Your physical copies won't last forever either and how many times have you bought the same movie over and over since VHS?

"Ern Bieman, a digital preservationist with the Canadian Conservation Institute, told me that commercially produced Blu-rays—if they're undamaged and stored correctly—should last at least 20 years. "They could certainly last longer, but you wouldn't want to bank on it," Bieman said. "Discs, whether they are optical discs or any other kind of media, are degrading from the day you get them.""

There's no reason to believe Apple is going away anytime soon and when I buy an HD movie from them and it gets a 4K remaster, I typically get the 4K upgrade free.

As far as digital media goes, I have quite a few Amazon albums that are now missing tracks. One album in particular is down to two songs out of the original fourteen. The experience has kind of soured me on digital media. For film I still prefer the image quality and uncompressed audio that discs provide, but this is a decent enough deal to overlook that if you just want a bundle of movies to watch.

Seriously it's like here's the ones we can't sell.
Witness for the Prosecution is one the best movies you've never seen. Lots of Jack Lemmon / Billy Wilder classics. Easily 20 films worth owning.

Well, if you want to leave the collection to anyone after you are home, digital doesn't work for that.
This is a great deal, but has drawbacks.
If I had a spare $100 I'd buy this but not for handing down to anyone later.
Not to "collect,". But for watching 100 movies one per week for two years sounds fun
