So the 7" inseam on these particular Champion shorts is not very short....I'm 5'10" and the shorts are just about ~2-3 inches above the knee. I have a few other Champion 7" inseam shorts that are about ~5" above the knee. Other than that, the shorts are just fine, lightweight, very comfortable, easy to work out in....

The trouble with nylon, which prevailed earlier, was that it lasted too long.

Polyester is reasonably comfortable (bought a pair of these), but most importantly to suppliers, it wears out much faster than nylon, meaning more sales.

For shorts, I do prefer nylon, but not like "Give me nylon or give me death" lol.

Nylon is still used in plenty of applications, it just doesn't get used in athletic gear nearly as much because it's not anywhere near as stretchy. Having said that, you do see poly getting used where nylon would be suitable, so I suspect it's really a combination of the resiliency that you mentioned, and the differences in stretch.

The moisture wicking feature is nice for that last 4 ounces of pee that just won't drain until you finally pull your shorts back up.
