I'm thinking this is a caddy for a dining table, not to hold wet silverware after hand washing.

I believe this would be used when hosting an event and serving a meal buffet style, not for actually storing silverware.

It MAY get mold if constantly wet but I don't see why I caddy would always be getting wet.

This is not a drying rack, so you are not supposed to put wet utensils. However, it is not really aesthetically appealing imo, probably you can keep it inside cabinets for utensil storage.

For silverware stuff, I think it's ugly to have this on your countertop vs having stuff in drawers IMO

Wood will also get burned when lit on fire, no reason to do so, nor is there a reason to put in your cutlery wet into the caddy.
