Heard the game is just middle of the road, but all the reviews give it a 9?

I loved this game. It's a great old-school RPG. The combat is like Super Mario RPG, where you can time your hits to keep the attack going. The story is great, and it's actually a pretty long game (depending on how much you do). I did almost everything (I still need to play it again to clean up a trophy or two that I can't just go back and grab) and I got about 50 hours out of it. For me, it's worth full price, just to support this dev.

It's a great game if you like old-school RPGs that are along the lines of Super Mario RPG. It deserved all the 9s it got.

I really enjoyed the game. The story is different but not unfamiliar either. The humor pokes fun at the genre but isn't overly silly. People might say it is middle of the road because it is a good game but not mind-blowing.

I platinum trophied the game, which is unusual for me. It kept me coming back.

I prefer the Switch version because I think games like this are best played when not tethered to the couch/TV

I loved it. If you like 16-bit era RPGs, I'd recommend giving it a shot. Even if you don't, give it a shot 😊
It's also worth noting this game was made by a small, indie game dev (Sabotage Studios). I don't make it a point to seek out indie games, and I don't typically play very many. But this job was excellently done, and I enjoyed it all the more knowing it was done by a small, passionate group.

The game is a love letter to RPG games like Chrono Trigger.
It's a solid title. 7.5/10.

I really wanted to love this game but it's got the worst story, writing, and pacing of any JRPG I've ever played. The combat also gets tedious really quickly.

Outside the art style and music this game wasn't anywhere near as good as the reviews said.

If you love Chrono Trigger, you'll probably at least like it.

Is this on a disc, or just a physical copy of a download code?

Good game but it's a bit overpriced for me. Played it on game pass and enjoyed it

Just finished this game with my wife last night. She loved it overall, but felt it was pretty linear. "I wanted more exploration."

I got a little bored with it after about 10 hours of play. I agree it's made very lovingly, but it gets a bit dry and repetitive after a bit. It was nice to have a coop game to play with her. I would recommend if you set some expectations

The only games that aren't on the disc are large games, like Call of Duty. Even with games that are on the disc, none of the games actually run off the disc. They get installed from it, and the disc just acts as a license. It has been that way since the PS4 era.
