Here's another trick I used to save a few bucks on taxes: Go ahead and update your profile to a state that doesn't collect taxes (like Delaware or Oregon). Then, update your preferred theater to that city. When you renew or upgrade your membership, you won't see any tax. You can pay with your regular credit card, and you won't have to worry about the tax being added to your subscription! I hope this helps someone out there!

Seems to be the case with me as well. After checkout it said 2026. But on my amc profile, says 2027

Is this only for accounts up for renewal or will this work for totally new account?

I'm thinking about canceling my AList membership but not sure if this will appear on that account as it A-List billing is on Jan 15th.

If you sign up now it will expire 1/1/27. I just did it. I haven't tried renewing though

My stubs premiere had expired. Just renewed and next charge date was 1/1/27.

Unfortunately it doesn't let you use a gift card as payment. I tried to use the GC from the recent 20% off deal but it makes you use a credit card.

Thanks! OP we'll see if it pans out. I renewed a few days ago and just looked and found that it did extend it by 2 years.

Worst case is we beat the price rise from Jan 1, and they've stopped waiving fees on 4 or more tickets on the free tier membership (from 1 Jan)- so we are still banking some gains and likely saving money over the year.

Renewing works even with new accounts. Made a new account a few minutes ago, purchased, cancelled, renewed. Expiration date on account is now 1/1/29.

it's not AMC charging sales tax, it's your state.
some states charges sales tax on everything some changes on certain things. if it starts charging you now and wasn't before that probably means your state law has changed

Note: Auto-renewal gets turned on when the purchase goes through.

You can turn it off by then canceling your membership. Your membership is still valid though your end date, it just won't auto renew.
