For what the kit is, it has always seemed expensive. It's simply a tub with some plastic rollers that slide into divots for different size records, then some small pads that the the vinyl rubs across and it comes with a small bottle of special cleaning solution. That being said, I've had one of the standard ones for 8 years and it's easy to use and works decently well. Surprised to see it's still this expensive, but it is a mark down.

I just spray with window tint safe glass cleaner & wipe with a microfiber rag. Takes 5 secs. The spray bottle & rag was less than $49 too.

Microfibers are good for surface level cleaning but brushes will deep clean a record. Plus this is for when you want to clean a collection of records due to the amount of solution required. I have about 50 records over 40 years old that have never been cleaned. This will allow me to be able to deep clean them all quickly

I use 2 Spin Cleans (both purchased on sale) one for the "wash" cycle, and one for the "rinse" cycle. The rinse with just distilled water (no cleaning solution) isn't technically necessary according to SC directions, but gives me peace of mind and, I think, cleans the records better. I then place the lp on a clean cotton bath towel, and wipe the side up with one of the cotton cloths supplied by Spin Clean. Next, I pick the lp up and wipe the other side. I don't personally like microfiber cloths as they aren't as absorbent (YMMV). Works great in my experience on hundreds of lps. Electrostatic/ultrasonic cleaners are coming down in price, and may do a better job but are noisy and slow. I'm happy with my setup and have no plans to change it.

These work fine for older dirty records. Just make sure to dry the record completely so no residue builds up. For newer records with minor dust these and definitely ultrasonic cleaners are probably overkill. Most of the surface noise and pops and clicks people hear on new records are related to the pressing and cannot be cleaned away.
