For a laptop, yes, definitely.
For a desktop or docking station, I prefer one with a 2.4ghz dongle like this.

Something like this. I've had one for a couple years and it's been fine. There are tons of similar ones, though. https://www.amazon.com/TECKNET-Wi...0CW9T3RJR/

If you don't mind spending up, I'd recommend finding a mouse with a free spinning wheel too. It's a game changer.

The dongles have transmission issues. Too tiny to have a good antenna. I've used plenty. All garbage.

I'm using a Logitech M535 at the moment. It's out of date but it works great. I've used other brands and prefer Logitech, but I'm sure there are other great ones out there, and maybe some of them are cheaper.

The Microsoft ones have always worked well for me.

I think it's been 10 years since I've bought a Microsoft hardware product, but they usually make quality gear.

It's been a long time since I've used one but does this thing have the same shape as the Logitech G700S??

Where's your USB port?
I've never seen dongle issues except when the dongle was plugged into the back of a monitor (and the monitor gave interference to block the signal).

On the desk 3 feet away. Multiple computers and devices and brands. Dongles are a waste. I have 20 of them here and there. Bluetooth is just better.

Got a surface arc mouse, fancy and cool. Sit in a drawer most of the time for several years until I finally decided to make it my workhorse ... left clicked died in less than a month 🥴

Second Bluetooth. If you lose/forget the dongle you don't have a useless mouse.

I find these similar mice have the same problem. Slippery, hard to grab. The front half is smaller than it should be, hard to hold. When that happens, it's super easy to accidentally click the two side buttons.
