I'm using a Logitech M535 at the moment. It's out of date but it works great. I've used other brands and prefer Logitech, but I'm sure there are other great ones out there, and maybe some of them are cheaper.

Where's your USB port?
I've never seen dongle issues except when the dongle was plugged into the back of a monitor (and the monitor gave interference to block the signal).

On the desk 3 feet away. Multiple computers and devices and brands. Dongles are a waste. I have 20 of them here and there. Bluetooth is just better.

Got a surface arc mouse, fancy and cool. Sit in a drawer most of the time for several years until I finally decided to make it my workhorse ... left clicked died in less than a month 🥴

I find these similar mice have the same problem. Slippery, hard to grab. The front half is smaller than it should be, hard to hold. When that happens, it's super easy to accidentally click the two side buttons.
