Random, non important, transient uses. I like having them for storage expansion on a device like a TV or travel media player device (i use with a portable projector, on my bravia tv and an offline android player box). They're good for passing around - I'm a software architect, and sometimes passing 3gb of assets we've generated in a 4hr working session is easier on one of these vs syncing to cloud shared storage. These are good for imaging an OS for installation to a device. Makes for a good transport between phone and pc for editing and sharing pictures and videos. Sure, an external hard drive can do these, but is comparatively overkill in terms of physical size and cost for these short lived purposes.
These have been on sale for over a month and a half at this price. They're starting to run out so better go grab yours before they do.
There should be decent stock in store as well.
If Lexar was the same quality as they were before 2017, this would be a great deal. They were the only drives I would buy back in my photo taking days. My Lexar CompactFlash cards are one of the first I bought, and outlived all of my other CF cards. I'm not sure if they work today, I dont have anything to test them with any more. lol
Serious question: why do people still get flash drives with small portable external hard drives available? I learned my lesson in college not to trust them

I could use a USB-C drive for phone/tablet now, doesn't necessarily need USB-A.
