Just a heads up to anyone that may be considering starting with Quicken. FIrst thing I would say is get it and use it as most people will not have money if they do not pay attention to it or manage it. Bering able to see what you have, spend, save and owe all in one place will definitely motivate you to save and manage money and it can be world and life changing. I do not think I would be anywhere I am at if I had not started as it almost immediately had me changing my behavior with money

Secondly a tip as to versions. If you are self employed, have self employment or 1099 income, or run a small business such as LLC you do not need the business version.

I bought that initially many years ago and did pay the extra cost for a few years but seldom or ever used the not very extensive or useful tools and sections they added to the business version.

Downgraded to Deluxe and did not miss a thing. You can keep all your business income and expenses separate from personal finances easily with categories. You can create your own business categories and assign them to the correct tax lines and pull Schedule C report at year end. That was one of the few differences is that they had some business categories and report pre-created but you can do that in a few minutes and not have to pay the significant cost difference.

I did that a while back and maybe the business version has some features that are more useful but can tell you, all the upsells listed in the marketing back then, I did not find worth the cost difference.

Another bad thing with the business version is that you will usually not find it on sale and have to pay full retail. That is what spurred my downgrade and after downgrading felt a bit the fool for wasting the money.

It's $31.50 at Amazon right now.
Thanks! Just got it from Amazon and used it to renew (even though the listing/picture states that it's for new subscribers).

But Amazon's is only for new subscribers. I couldn't find where they offered just a 1 year subscription amongst the crap they throw in on your search. .

I just bought from Amazon and used it to renew. Yes, the listing says for new subscribers, but if you also search the Q&A or the product reviews, many have used it to renew successfully. So I decided to take the chance myself and surely enough, it worked.

I still use my 2017 premier as I hate this annual subscription model. Is there any substitute that is non-subscription? MS Money was the only other one I was aware of.

Is this a good price? Seems a bit high as compared to more common $32 lows over the year.
Intuit is a very greedy company. I imagine everything they sell goes up in price every year.

Thanks for testing it out. Was your existing subscription already expired or just within 6 months of expiration?

Intuit sold off Quicken back in 2016. It has been an independent company since.

FYI: I just successfully renewed using the Amazon digital code even though the listing says "new subscribers".

Paid about $5.00 less from NewEgg last year this time. Not willing to roll the dice for a cheaper price. In for one extension.

Yep. And every year I just take the activation code and pop it into my existing installation and it renews.

tried quicken out last year but gave up due to too many accounts needing constant login babysitting..

I was hoping that it would pull my positions in automatically (vs manually updating them 1x a month),.. but it wasnt saving me alot of time over the spreadsheet

Newbie here. What happens if I don't renew next year? Whether I will not be able to use anymore or will not get new features for next year?

You will not be able to download data from your financial institutions directly. Your existing data will be preserved. You will still be able to manually add transactions data. Depending on the number of financial accounts that may or may not work for your needs.
