I was checking the Bestbuy website and saw that the Nova 5 headphones are $79.99 with a total membership. The battery life is better than the Nova 7, and apparently the mic is improved (they were released this year) this model doesn't support Xbox but is highly rated from reviews I've seen.

I picked them up earlier and I gotta say for regular gaming they work pretty well. I also gotta say they feel MUCH lighter than the nova pro model and of course considerably cheaper. For PC only use it works pretty well. Can even do chatmix via sonar software.

Do you have any idea how they compare to the Corsair Virtuosos? I have those and love them, but after numerous years, the battery has kicked the bucket and won't retain a charge.

From what I can see the Virtuoso is higher end model. That said these headphones are a new model released this year and also the microphone can get hidden inside the ear cup where those Corsair looks like it can be disconnected and/or replaced. Also the battery on these is 3x as long. Also these don't support wired 3.5mm but do support 2.4 and Bluetooth as well as wired usb
These are predominantly a PC gaming headphone from what I see which is perfect for me at least

I was going to purchase the Nova 7 for my son. I know nothing about gaming other than he needs it to play pc and Xbox. How does this compare?
If he needs Xbox you need the Xbox version of these OR get the 7X from Amazon. The Xbox version of these 5 series is not on sale. Only the regular one that works with ps4/ps5 and switch along with PC

Thanks, I was looking more towards the audio quality, but that actually does help. I use the headsets for work, I'm not much of a gamer, but the gaming equipment usually meets the needs I have that a lot of other headsets do not, AND are a lot more comfortable as they are designed for hours of wear in a stretch.
I need to be able to switch between wired and wireless if necessary. Also, I need RF with a dongle not BT which is why I was looking at these. I may still get them even though I bought the Corsairs last night. I like having a backup and it will give me a chance to compare them.
Thanks OP!
I just had a conf call with these headphones and was told it was the best sounding audio they had heard on a call, so the microphone improvement claims they said are 100% true!
I bought the headphones even though I have the Virtuosos on route. I like to have a back up. A few points:
The wireless has a good, strong signal even when a fairly decent distance away. They are strong an even longer distance than the Virtuosos, and also the Corsair Void headset I have.
The audio is good, and the folks I've spoken to and asked have said the audio to them has been very good. Both are comparable to the Virtuosos, and maybe a bit better than the Voids.
The headphones are comfy for extended periods. EX: Today, I have had them on for over 7 hours except lunch and they are still comfy. This is where the Virtuosos and the Voids beat the Steelseries Arctis. I find the Virtuosos and the Voids a bit more comfy, possibly because they are looser and my head does not feel as "squished".
One note that is annoying as h377. They come with an auto-timeout already set. The only way to change it is to download their software package and reset it. I cannot do that on the work system as we do not allow any third party software on there. So, I have to try to reset it on a different computer.

All in all, a good deal and worth the money.
Yeah I've been very happy with them. Battery life is excellent too.
