WinMerge is my favorite difftool for Windows. Meld is good too, and cross platform, but less stable in my experience (on Windows, at least). Both are free.

This was an essential tool in my IT days to help determine WTF changed when someone didn't document it!

Agreed, and still is. This has always been best in class and has one of the most fair software licensing models to ever exist.

I'm tempted to give them my $$$ for an upgrade just to support their licensing model. Screw the monthly subscription mobsters.

I'm still on Ver 4. Great product, but don't see the need to pay for an upgrade.

FreeFileSync is free and looks to do the same thing (with a less fancy UI).

Sell me it.
this is such an understatement. i went to the page and i still dont know exactly what it does. even looking at list of features i get that its multithreaded without explanation of what it does unless i dissect a table.

diff and rsync are built into Linux, all three of which are FREE.
and all totally useless (for the most part) for non-linux users.

It will be the year of the Linux desktop when MS finally switches windows to be a UI on top of Linux.

I use v4 every single day in so many ways. I keep finding new things that I can do with it.
Recently, removing empty folders via sftp.

This is a great piece of software. It's one of the only easy to use diff-tools that I've found that can sort elements inside of large xml files (like 300+MB), without crashing/hanging/etc.

Also its a small software company. Happy to buy a personal license to have at home and support their future development.
