I ended up getting a ideapad 5 certified refurbished for $450... specs: 8845HS / 16GB / 1TB... it also flips to be like a tablet and it has a touchscreen.

This laptop is not meant to be upgraded. The "only" 14" laptop that I know which you can upgrade the RAM is the Razer blade 14 24 and that is EXPENSIVE.
At the price point of $450ish... I feel you can afford a new laptop in 5 to 7 years.
Also, if you are truly serious about needing 32GB of RAM... for what? While you can play most games with the 8845HS, you are still limited to the 780m GPU.
Unless you video edit, auto cad, or use the laptop for heavy commuting... don't know why you would "need" (I understand want) 32GB of RAM.
I personally "want" more RAM as well, but beggers can not be choosers.

This has thunderbolt 4, so perhaps there's a possibility of adding an external GPU?
But I agree...almost every laptop nowadays have soldered RAM and not upgradable, which sucks, but it is what it is...
Regardless I think this is an excellent PC for the price.
