Batteries and battery packs, router bits, small power tools (drills/drivers/multitools may all fit), bulk fasteners, saw blades, paint by the gallon, motor oil, and any other smallish item that doesn't normally see discounts outside the 11% sales.

The best part about the 15% bag sale is that it's an INSTANT DISCOUNT at the register. No rebate to mail for merchandise credit. The rule about having to fit everything in the bag is flexible, too. The stores have the SKUs preprogrammed to know what items will fit, so unless they changed something this year, anything in your cart that would fit in the bag will just ring up 15% off, so load up.

If I have a store pickup order for something that would fit in a bag, is there a way I could get the discount? Maybe cancel pickup at desk and buy there? It's not something sold in stores and was shipped to store for pick up

I've had excellent luck taking receipts (order forms) to customer service and asking politely for the current price. Never hurts to ask.

Back in the day, the bags were sent in the Sunday newspaper so you only had one bag to use. Now, you can make as many visits as you want and pick up a bag as you walk in. So nice.

The fine print on the bag itself does prohibit that, though I doubt it'd be enforced.

I bought bunch of small stuff that I had in the bag, and also a 50lb bag of ice melt and some firewood, which definitely wouldn't fit in the bag—the cashier gave me 15% off everything in my cart without a word.

correct, because they know what fits in the bag, you do not physically need to fill a bag. I lay all my items on the conveyor belt and lay the bag on top. So many people near the registers are trying to play tetris, tearing the bag and running to get another bag. No need to do this.

Last year, the register lady made me put everything in the bag. Of course she takes it out right after to ring it up. So it'll vary upon who is at the register.
