I had 1-gigabit internet with Xfi Complete (for unlimited data) for a couple of years and was paying $115/month. I was tired of spending so much, so I called to decrease the plan or find any promotions. I got an upgrade to 2-gigabit with a 2-year contract for $88.

The 2-gigabit plan was not an option online.
Number I called: 1-800-934-6489
(I had to go through many menus to talk to a real person.)
Your mileage and availability may vary.

Note: I understand that I will not even be able to utilize 2-gigabit on most of my devices, but I plan to run some new CAT6 and get a 2.5Gb switch for my primary desktop.

After dealing with the Automated Agent ... Sales, Agent, Agent, Agent, Sales, Agent

I got to an inexperienced rep - As she read me the 2GB service description, she didnt know why download and upload speeds weren't the same!
- Anyway, She would not give me the deal - Infact, quoting me $10 than what is on xfinity's website
- insisting she was the last point of escalation

I insisted she forward me to her supervisor... waiting on a callback
30yr comcast customer its always been such a hassle dealing with Xfinity!!
... Let me know if any other methods are successful?
I'll followup here with my results too.

Is it gurantee 2 gig up and down speed like Verizon fios ? Are you sharing speed with rest of neighbors on your block?

I was able to lower my current bill to $90, my 2 years was ready to expire on my old deal. This is almost $20 cheaper than what I was paying.
how did you do that?

US internet is so expensive, I'm paying about 23 USD for 10Gbps in Singapore.
That's because most of the homes are pre-wired for ultrafast fiber internet. Singapore is a smaller island city/country and the cost of installing the infrastructure is very low compared to the geographically diverse USA

I was going to get another person in the household to sign up as a new customer to get a deal but I just went to see the plans on my existing account (go to ur account and click "upgrade speed" next to your Internet plan) and they offer $5 less for my existing plan with 1 year contract (2 year promo price).
I currently pay $75 a month for 1gb with Xfi complete and auto pay discount. Current pricing is ending this month and will become > $100.
My new price will be $70 for the same thing! Plus I don't have to deal with it for 2 years!

Thanks so much OP. Im in Michigan, they didnt have the 2g for 88 in my area, but they did have 1gb with unlimited for $80 (70 after autopay), which is about $40 a month cheaper than what I was currently paying for the same. Also used the corporate number towards the beginning of the post and had a good experience calling in (atypical for Comcast!)

Add the red tape and bureaucracy in the US, you have inflated price.

I'm in MI too so I have a few questions. Were you already on a contract or just month to month? My contract ends in another month or so and I know my bill is going to skyrocket, lol. So if you got unlimited 1 gig for $80 are you using their equipment? I may try and call the corporate number but someone else said that number is a scam?

See if Verizon or Tmobile 5g Home internet is available at your address. If it is, threaten to cancel and change service so they send you to the retention department. They'll confirm if the 5g internet is available and then give you all the discounts they can so you don't switch service.

Seriously suspect this is one of those contract-term deals where the price skyrockets to 150% after 1-2 years. Haven't seen that mentioned yet.
This is a typical contract for a price lock. Afterwards you pay the going rate. It is unlikely to balloon 50%. This isn't cable TV. Technology and competition will likely drive the price down rather than up.

So it's still the case that to get unlimited data you must have their equipment be the gateway? Frown Makes me wonder what info they're gathering from your network for it to be worth it for them to not collect the $40 a month for unlimited data cap.
No. You can pay $10/month for no cap. This includes a modem only if you want one. You may continue using your own equipment.

I was paying $146/month for 2G unlimited using xfinity modem. I argued and they offered me $105.33/month with 2 year contract if autopay from bank account instead of credit card. They would not honor $88/month since that "pricing is not available in my area " whatever that means. I don't have at&t fiber/verizon/tmobile 5g available in my area yet

"Unlimited data" starting to sound like a mobile phone carrier. Smilie
