I had 1-gigabit internet with Xfi Complete (for unlimited data) for a couple of years and was paying $115/month. I was tired of spending so much, so I called to decrease the plan or find any promotions. I got an upgrade to 2-gigabit with a 2-year contract for $88.

The 2-gigabit plan was not an option online.
Number I called: 1-800-934-6489
(I had to go through many menus to talk to a real person.)
Your mileage and availability may vary.

Note: I understand that I will not even be able to utilize 2-gigabit on most of my devices, but I plan to run some new CAT6 and get a 2.5Gb switch for my primary desktop.

I'm a sales rep and I'll tell you people typically ignore it. When I sign people up I send a link that opens the browser that you complete. Right at the beginning it shows the price and then the after promotion price. I personally let people know, but rarely doesn't anyone ever ask
I do not understand the point you are trying to make. It is not like price will change if you ask. "Promotional prices" are just regular prices to me. Contract is the way for xfinity to raise your price after it is over. Comast likes to silently "upgrade" you for "free" before the end of the contract as well, so you can pay even higher rate.
There is a reason comast does not advertise fix rate, like the one you get for netflix and when the rate changes, it changes globally, not just for you.

That's because most of the homes are pre-wired for ultrafast fiber internet. Singapore is a smaller island city/country and the cost of installing the infrastructure is very low compared to the geographically diverse USA
Then why can't any city in the US have similar?

SF Bay Area here- 2 gbps is available for new customers for $80 a month for 2 years with 2 year contract, or $75 a month for 12 months without a contract.
Comcast rep is telling me they can't find the deal (also in SF), but they said they can apply the discount code if I have the number of someone with the discount. Any tips or anyone willing to share via PM?

So were you out of your previous contract already or where you able to jump into this new deal while still under contract? I think my current deal ends in (2) months.
I just signed a contract around June, so I still had time left on the contract.
I changed to the 1GB, which I believe is okay.

To be sure, you can chat them and ask if there's a penalty for changing your plan before your 2 months are up. As I said, the last time I did this, the rep said it was okay to change plans as long as I did not cancel. IDK if that was "upgrades" only or if downgrading speed was still okay. Here, I am definitely going up from 800 to 1000.

early termination fee only applies if you disconnect your entire account. Trick is to change to non-contract plan then cancel after.

I don't understand the obsession with 1gb+ speeds. I know it's **nice** to have your games or files download in a minutes versus a handful of minutes but really, when else would you realistically benefit from 1gb+? I never get stutters streaming or anything even on 150mbps.

After dealing with the Automated Agent ... Sales, Agent, Agent, Agent, Sales, Agent

I got to an inexperienced rep - As she read me the 2GB service description, she didnt know why download and upload speeds weren't the same!
- Anyway, She would not give me the deal - Infact, quoting me $10 than what is on xfinity's website
- insisting she was the last point of escalation

I insisted she forward me to her supervisor... waiting on a callback
30yr comcast customer its always been such a hassle dealing with Xfinity!!
... Let me know if any other methods are successful?
I'll followup here with my results too.
I did get a "supervisor" callback, he said he was with retentions - I doubted his credentials
- Very disappointing call and No $88 Deal.
They want 120 for 2GB with 1.2TB data Limit which is $10 more than the Xfinity web page

- Sad Sad Customer Service

Heavy pc gaming users ..1 AAA game download is easily over 100 GBs now. I won't go back to cable though even if it's higher speed, fiber just has better latency and ping from my experience.
Seems pretty niche. Ping I get, but isn't the ping going to be the same for any speed under a single provider?

300Mbit down still downloads 100 GB in 45 minutes, its not like we're talking days. We are in a time where people want things immediately though.

They provide an all-in-one with a 2Gb port.

However I just put it in bridge mode and use my own stuff. Also, open up the modem case and disconnect the WiFi antennas, because there's no way to disable the WiFi even in bridge mode.
Have any pointers on how to do it?
