Too bad Sony version isn't as good of a deal. Rented one to shoot a wedding recently and it is a fantastic lens.

I've been eyeing this lens for months. Great deal. I can basically use it for all my gigs. I just wish it came in 2024 so I could write it off lol.

Nice specs. Soft in the corners, but any zoom like this will have compromises.

Depends on the focal length. Photo life says at wider focal lengths corner sharpness is among best in class. At longer focal lengths it seems the lens starts to lose quite a bit of its sharpness all over.

Quote (@35mm):
...if corner performance matters to you, either the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 or the Nikon Z 24-70mm f/2.8 is the winner.

I preordered the Sony version of this lens for my a7R II, and I've found that 2/3 of the time I don't end up swapping to any of the other lenses I bring along. It's heavy, but it's a killer general-purpose lens.

It's amazingly versatile, but has that amazingly flat Tamron look to the files

Got this lens back in 2022 for $1500 right before Qatar's World Cup trip, probably my main zoom lens along with my 16-35 2.8 GM
