You are mistaking the intent of the purchasers of these knives. These are intended to be safely tucked away and held in reserve for the SHTF day when civilization collapses and the knife collecting prepper can trade one of these beauties and a 5 gallon bucket of freeze dried chili for the nubile daughter of his starving neighbor.

I used to buy expensive EDC knives, but found that I was always afraid to lose or damage them, so I would never carry them. I bought a Firebird Gonzo and never looked back. $15, cuts my cardboard boxes fine, holds an edge well and I didn't care if I bang it around or lose it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTHSVHRV

What are the chances? These are the returns of someone who bought a knock off from AliExpress and then put it in the box and kept the real thing? If you buy a bench made knife anywhere but bench made.com. You should immediately verify that it is authentic because there are nearly identical knock offs on AliExpress for $20

I carry a Microtech Ultratech OTF auto every day but for me the price is worth it for something I really like. I skimp on other things.

I verified the rapid deployment and forward stabbing prep motion along with coinciding deployment, the inertial force can overcome the strength of the benchmade infidel OTF assisted open spring and result in a failed blade deployment. Can't count on that as a defensive weapon

So, I'm pretty sure I'll never own a knife with MSRPs like these... Not knocking on them, just... wow.

FWIW, I've been using the one in the link as an EDC for a long while. Like it enough I gave one to a friend recently. Great flipper, super compact, reliable, love it.
