These might sound good but THEY DO NOT have flat frequency response out of the box and so all of your mixed will sound off on accurate speakers. They have also been designed for far-field listening, this matters in this case as the tonal balance is taking into account how distance changes high frequency response more than mids and lows. This means the tweeter could be fairly hot in the near field. All things that will throw you mixes off. You want neutral to mix on just like in Photography you would want a calibrated & color accurate monitor and printer.
JBL 305p, JBL 306p, Kali Audio LP6 V2 those are all great starter studio monitors. Plus because they are active speakers you will not need a separate amp.
In my medium-large room with lots of soft furnishings generally Klipsch reference and r series speakers shave not been overly bright. They also have narrow dispersion if 25-30degrees off axis, then the highs are much less present.
You also do not get much for side wall reflections in the upper mids and treble so that is also a factor.
In any case, you can turn the treble down or more advanced users can use parametric eq. Actually if using parametric EQ and with the rights chops and methods you can get astonishingly accurate sound @ least from the 4 or so pairs of Klipsch speakers I have used.
I ended up being a true fan of the designs despite some notable of the shelf issues with accuracy.
I'm going to buy a pair of these since the sale price is so low.
I have a AIYIMA A01 Pro 100W x 2 Power.
I'm putting together a 3.1 system for my parents using my old receiver and speakers after going for that eBay Onkyo RZ50 deal, doing a RSL powerbuy, and scoring some Polk Monitors off Craigslist last month. They could use a second system for watching TV in their bedroom, so in the worst case these can go there as a 2.0 or 3.0 (if I can find another decent center). I suspect with their aging ears, they wouldn't hear the elevated treble anyway.

Very dynamic and detailed. Toed out slightly to temper just a tad too much treble in my room.
Bass is decent 48" from any wall, but I pair with an RSL 10e for a solid bottom end.
$299.00 shipped is a sweet deal if you can live with the walnut color.
I bought the RSL 12s last year for the HT and it blew me away as well.
I would probably just keep the 500's and enjoy them.
