i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

Most people insure the costly driver on the POS beater car, even if they aren't driving it. Family members are covered driving any car on the policy.

I was expensive to insure, definitely. But it was much easier to deal with as the primary driver of the old minivan used to haul around the family, even though I had a decent little sub-compact to drive around.
Not debating what most people do but I always found this fraudulent practice to be very penny wise pound foolish.

Example, a significant claim arises involving a fatality. The person insured is driving their normal vehicle, insurance company performs interviews of coworkers, friends, reviews surveillance to see the person doesn't actually drive the vehicle they're supposed primary on, potential denial of coverage when you need it most, but heck I'm honest. That's why I report accurate info to my insurance company, why worry that LIES will come back to be something you regret?

So when your agent, who legally represents the insurance carrier and bind the carrier to the contract based just on their verbal word, advises you how to set up your insurance policy you are not going to follow their suggestions?

The EA (Electrify America) 3-year program is unfortunately not available for the 2024 (and beyond) VW ID.4s.
Though there may be some deal with EA providing free 30-min charges for a set number of visits. I'm not sure about this.
Oh, if that's the case, we probably wouldn't consider it again. The car (2022 model) is pretty lame. Although the price seems ok ($999 down might be 3k otd plus $149 month), ioniq 5 may be a better choice, which has one-pay promotion recently.

I've had a 23 Tesla Model Y, first new car in 15 years and was amazed by the coolness and by the poor ride and bad decisions in other ways. Recently I've been looking at used EVs as a second car. I tried a 2019 Kia Niro premium and it was a bit small but a fun car with older technology infotainment (but better than I've had and much better than car it's replacing).

I'm trying the original 2021 VW ID.4, and not sure what's terrible about it. It's more spacious and premium that the Model Y, but quirky in other ways and the information is terrible, but supports wireless Android Auto and Carplay, so has that over even the Model Y. But I'm not a car person, so if you have more experience please share. And pricing wise, if the ID.4 is an acceptable, does this Lease, or even 0% financing over 72 months they (allegedly) have be better than the pre-owned with $4K cashback (and trade in) ending up around $20K out the door?

Also wanted to add that the poor app experience and other things had me considering an older Model 3, 2018 to 2020 for about the same price just for the software I'm used to (although older and slower) and the app that actually works, and the $100/year premium connection that actually gives you some value. (Kia and VW literally let you sort of see some info about the car in the app with the more expensive LTE plans, but not make any changes, though VW is free for now, Kia is like $200/year)... and the phone key.

(Anyone feel free to chime in on advice, really need a minimum cost EV car, bigger the better, cheaper the even better)

Some Agents just want to make the sale to collect the commission. I knew of one who suggested that people claim they were married and make up a person to put as spouse.

Here in the great state of CA, it's close to 50c/KWh charging at home. That's more expensive than gas at $4/gal
Bay area off peak is $0.32

I have the same year and I agree 100%. I paid MSRP like a shmuck and the current value is like 1/3rd what I paid for less than 2 yrs ago.
