i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

RWD model is not available anywhere. It almost seems like a marketing thing to get you interested in a higher priced model.

The upside of Tesla is it's the only mainstream high production car company that built cars from the ground up to be EV's. Every part was designed to talk to each other seamlessly. All other car companies have dozens of components from different vendors that are reverse-engineered to communicate with each other. Which adds far more complexity.

Because of this, nearly everything can be addressed and improved through OTA software updates. Not only that, but it's also the only car that will have so many updates over the time you have it that it will feel like a new car 2-3 years later.

This isn't to say other companies don't make good EV's. I'm fond of Hyundai/Kia Ev's. But nothing matches the software integration experience of a Tesla.
Yea right, tell it to the owners with HW3, they will never get their FSD fixed, design is dated, despite all this Tesla delivery went down this year.
There are many Tesla forums in slickdeals, how you ended up here?

I'm at the Tesla supercharger in Norwalk California, 34 cent per kwh before 8:00 a.m. in the morning.
They were talking about at-home charging being 50 cents, which is nuts. Tesla superchargers just reduced their rates a bit. The news did a story on it in the last few days.

Does anyone know if you lease a car, can an 18-year-old drive it? This seems like a great way for a college student to have a car for a couple of years.
I would not advise it, no matter how responsible your child may seem. They are going to have a fender bender or three, it is just part of the deal. In addition, with mileage capped at 20,000, they will go over this limit and you will be stuck paying the difference at .20 per mile. Better to get them a used vehicle. Save yourself the frustration and hit to your insurance. Friends of mine got their kids leased vehicles and it was painful to watch. The wrecks, the overage on mileage, was just awful. I do not blame the kids, we parents try to overcompensate for the things we didn't have or what have you. No disrespect just being transparent. Many blessings!

Great deal! I bought a fuel-only Audi around this time last year, and the price was insanely low for such great horsepower. Always go for the low-demand cars!

Really? I loved my 2013 Volt. My only complaint was lack of CarPlay. Mechanically it ran like a dream and the only reason I left it was because I got a $13k trade-in offer despite hail damage on nearly all the panels.
The design was just poorly thought out. No ac vents for the back seats. No wiper on the giant hatchback window. Randomly would change the charging rate at our home location that was PROGRAMMED IN so it would charge too slowly (had to keep resetting when we realized it). Just tons of irritating little things that added up. I understand that the earlier Volts were actually better, and ours was like 2019 or whenever the last model year was before they canceled it, so maybe that's the difference.

Has anyone been able to find a dealer that plays ball and was able to get this deal?

Also looks like Volkswagen doesn't qualify for the $7,500 EV credit anymore.

I contacted a dealer , dealer is quoting 291$ per month with 3k down for 2 years and 10k miles.

I'm not sure where that poster lives, but I'm on SCE in LA and it's only 52c on evening peak. Rest of the 19 hours in a day it's 25c and there's actually a discount on a baseline, so actually about 20c on average. DWP users pay similar. I have heard it can be more expensive in some other places like San Diego, but it's not more than gas anywhere I don't think. Not unless they mean DCFC.
Agree. That's my experience with SCE in the LBC.

For new buyers interested, they significantly updated the tech and drive in the 2024 model. Definitely try it out to see if it is a good fit for you. Totally agree with OP though that 2023 and earlier tech was pretty bad.

As an Egolf owner, the dealer wanted to charge me 6 grand to replace the jx1 module right up front on top inside of the engine bay... 3k for the part new. I bought a used one on ebay for $400
and it was an easy unbolt and bolt back on (following instructions).. 30 min job tops.

Oh and i think the diagnostic fee was like 2 hours labor and all they did was plug in someting and said it wasn't communicating.. and didn't even charge it like they were supposed to... because it was at 0.

stay away from VW.

Oh. I didn't know they had such changes. My Volt had front and rear wipers, the 2019's didn't have one? Weird. My HOA covered the cost of garage electricity, so I never programmed times. And, for me at least, I don't think the rear seats saw a person more than five or six times so I don't recall any complaint. No one who sat in the back seat ever made a car payment. 🤣

it's a lease, not purchase, should be fine

I would love to hear anyone that is able to get this deal, I understand that $149 is based on $39K base model, most of the Standard model is $42K, so I was expecting it to be >$149 per month. Wondering if anyone has success with $999 down and <$200 monthly payment.
Question I have though, the 20K miles limit I assume is for 2 years right (not 20K miles per year). If someone can confirm, that will be great.

Where are YOU in CA? Up here in far northern CA, it's more like 15c/KWh for home electricity. 50 cents is nuts when the California average is only 30 cents. 50 cents/KWh is like a tesla charging station charge.
he/she might be talking about charging at the peak rate. here in socal we pay about 48 cents per kwh, but that's from 3pm to 9pm. otherwise it is more liek 30 cents or so.

still, not be able to generate your own electricity makes buying ev much less attractive at socal
