i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

What's red state got to do with anything? If there's money in it, the charging systems will be built. I live in Texas and I see more and more charging stations being built.
Enough chargers that everyone who doesn't live in a house has regular daily access to charge their car without a significant wait? I have been to Texas and even in major cities, it's bad. Even Austin is bad when you don't count the tesla chargers. On top of that, go to the major university campuses and see how many you see. Essentially zero except maybe University of Texas Austin, and even then it's not enough to support students living in apartments.
Now go to California and you will see a huge difference. We toured one of the UC schools and they had a whole floor maybe 2 floors in the parking garage dedicated to EV charging. I would never recommend owning an ev in most red states including Texas if you don't own your own charger.

1) To each his own. I can see why, if you are the type to drive to 14 dealerships and spend hours of research to try and get a better deal than uncle bob got, you might not like it.

2) To each his own. Android Auto and Carplay are just gimmicks and the Tesla software renders what most people use them for redundant.

3) You totally misunderstood this point. I'm not saying Teslas only last 2-3 years. I'm saying OVER THE LIFE OF OWNING THE CAR it will feel like you got a new car every 2 to 3 years just because of how many new features are pushed to the car. FOR FREE. No other car does that.
1. When I walk into my dealership the staff know my name, stand up and greet me. If everyone pays the same price then no one got a good deal.

2. AA and CarPlay are definitely not gimmicks. How is it redundant? Tesla's software doesn't have Siri. It doesn't have Apple Maps. It doesn't have any of the software I use. I don't want a similar app. I want control to stop using something because they made a change I don't like. IF tesla's software really was better they would just include AA/CP because they would know no one would use it. The only reason to not include it is to control the user.

3. I do not believe that for a second. If they really improved cars they already sold then they would have added CarPlay 2.0 already. Instead all they offer is a non-functional, non-transferable self-driving feature that costs more than this VW's entire lease.

Florida Dealers: "Sure, we can do $149/month. After $1199 Dealer Doc Fee, $799 Registration Processing Fee, $499 Window Tinting, $399 Nitrogen Tire Fill, $999 Paint Protection Coating, $3000 Market Adjustment Surcharge, and $500 Just Because Fee. That will be $40,000 down and $149/month. Plus tax, tag and title. And if you don't like that, too bad, the next person will sadly pay it."

Kidding, but not kidding.

Coincidentally, I just read an article about EVs in cold weather and the impact to the battery capacity in freezing temps. The VW ID4 scored at the very bottom of the entire list. I guess that's one of the reasons why so many people here have said they suck.

So I dont quite understand how lease work. My TOTAL monthly payment will ONLY be $149 for the next 24 months besides the one time $999 and fees (Base Model)?
Yes but it's gonna be higher after tax, fees and other maintenance items like tires and wheels, Gap and so on

Taxes and fees, yes.

You shouldn't need to replace the tires, and certainly not the wheels, after only 2 years and 20k miles.

And most leases, at least from in-house financing of reputable brands, include gap. This is why you shouldn't put down a down payment on a lease -- it may lower your monthly fee, but you could lose it all if you total the car.

You are allowed 833 miles a month and then you pay an additional $0.20/mile after. Lots of people don't look closely at the mileage allowance. Be careful!

I drive closer to 15k a year and this 24 month lease would get me to around 30k miles or 10,000 over this allowance of 20k miles for the lease term.

10,000 x.2 = $2,000 due at return. Plus a $395 return fee and possible wear and tear charges. $3,576 + $699 + $2000 + $395 = $6,670.Plus tax... ... lots of add-ons.

Leases seem to work for people who don't drive much but want a new car every few years with no worries. Like my senior parents. Leases don't work as well for people who use their vehicles for long trips or regular commuting.

Are you asking because 24 months x $149.99 is poorly approximated as $3500?

Good luck!

Though a more restrictive lease, the same dealer brand offering the $0 down / $0 payments Fiat 500e lease had an ID.4 through today for $0 down / $80 month.

From Larry H Miller VW Lakewood [lhmvw.com]
The updated deal for Colorado buyers on the base ID.4 is $0 down and $35 / month.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit driving a VW. (I own a 2006 New Beetle convertible I bought new though it hasn't been my daily driver for nearly 8 years)

Good luck!

[QUOTE=thrustbucket;175134339]There is nothing wrong with their FSD, they just get updates at a slower rate.
They will also get a free upgrade if they purchased FSD and HW3 can't make the cut for unsupervised.

despite all this Tesla delivery went down this year.

1%. Is that a failure?

Because I started out looking at other EV's first, like this one. And ended up realizing it was futile.
So far they didn't and Tesla don't have an actual plan to have it done, so those who paid $15k for so called FSD got played, even though there is class action in California to get money back.
Everybody else is up, unlike Tesla.

Equinox would be fantastic.
Is this replicable for N.cal , and no current ownership of EVs.

Thx.
