i have the 2023 i'd.4 on a lease and can honestly say i'm counting down the days until this car goes back

one of the worst cars i've ever owned, technology is very poorly designed and frustrating, countless recalls and range is mediocre at best.

there are many more comparable options when it comes to EV. Chevy Equinox being one that is also very well priced.

My personal opinion would be to get him a used car if he or she a new driver. Cheaper insurance and less fear of damage. Damaging a leased car is going to be costly. Not meaning to offend or anything, just providing my own experience as an ex-college student.

Might want to consider a used EV instead. Model year 23 one owner vehicles under 25k should qualify for an additional 4k discount. the lease deal looks to be 10k per year for mileage. Prices exclude taxes and fees. I have an id 4. Can't say I would recommend it

I researched EVs for quite a while before I settled on Tesla Y 2023. I even pre-ordered ID4, but I cancelled my order. Here is my reason.
You don't choose the car alone, but the system. An EV without good charging support is limited only to around-town driving. I'm in LA, I have no problem driving up and down Califonia and to Las Vegas many times. Also Tesla recent auto-plot is very good. The previous verisons were barely usable, but the current one has a lot of improvement. I let it drive me from LA to Las Vegas without interventions during Xmas.
That being said, if you just want to try an EV and have an around-town car, ID4's cheap lease price is not a bad option.
It's a 2year lease for around $5k, you not going to marry this car for the rest of your life, get over it.

I got this deal for $999 down and $150 per month for Standard for 10k miles per year for 2 years. It includes 2 free maintenance at 10k miles each. This made sense for me as this will be the second car for city driving only. The office has free Level 2 charging, so there are no fees there as well. But the car is basic with cloth seats, only color option is white. No charger included, that's extra at $400. the range at 100% is at best 220 miles which not great is not bad either. Infotainment is okay, nothing special. This was the cheapest deal I could find for a new car with no maintenance. Gets the job done without any frills.

The best use case for an EV at this point with a limited charging network (and also not a well maintained/managed network) is to use an EV to drive around the town, charge at home on level 1 or level 2 depending on the number if miles driven per day and leasing it if income qualifications for rebate is not met.

It's a perfect city car. Charge at home for cheap or office for free and drive around the town. The slower speed limits on city roads are best for the range of the EV with regenerative braking. The low range shouldn't matter at all as almost no one drives more than 220 miles a day on city roads.

Congratulations on getting the deal!
Where are you located? And were there higher versions for a comparable increase in the price?

You think the majority of American spouses in a household are earning above $299,999 AGI?
Not a majority of Americans for sure.
But the best case for an EV ownership currently, with a limited charging network and the existing network not well maintained, is a suburban family with a garaged home. In most cases if it's a income family then the AGI would be about that range perhaps. Besides that an EV also makes most sense as a second car for local driving.

This is a good deal if one can get it from some dealer. Otherwise there are quite a few ICE cars that are bigger and cheaper than the MSRP of this car. So most people will gravitate towards the cheaper options for outright ownership.

They initially quoted me $235 and then $195 for 7500 miles with taxes and fees, but I walked away. They called and said they would do 150 if you come and sign now, to which I said yes, and they also increased the miles to 10k. I didn't even ask for a higher trim cause I was not planning on spending anymore on a car. I am located in Las Vegas and I got this deal at Autonation VW

Well, it is a nice deal. You won't find a cheaper car anywhere and it should save you money on local driving.

I had a deal done in VA today for $149/month and all fees, taxes and tags of $3k. Checked insurance and it was going to add $1,200 a year so I backed out.

You might as well lease a Tesla instead of falling for these cheap gimmicks

Average price of a new vehicle is $48k in the U.S.

A model Y would fall below that big time after the EV tax credit.

In terms of EV ownership, if you own a house, it makes zero sense not to own an EV at this point for the obvious benefits.

Tesla superchargers are very well-maintained.

I can't speak for EA and Chargepoint because those suck but the efficacy of Tesla superchargers are almost always working.

As for the AGI, sorry bud. Unless both working parents are working in tech, lawyers, work in finance, or own their own business, they are not pulling in $300k AGI. Most Americans will qualify, period.

looking at this as my first lease attempt. Can someone please advise what are all the variables that I should negotiate with the dealer, and what is the targeted price for those variables.
Make sure you are getting buy rate on your money factor, don't let them add any additional items i.e. paint protection, wheel tire protection, extended warranty.
