Everyone ready for another iteration of the same thing? I don't know why I do it every year, but it's been a good 4 years now where I literally can't tell the difference and just deal with a hassle of moving everything over and logging into everything for no reason.

I still haven't used any of the AI crap that came with the s24 ultra.

Batteries degrade over time, so it's not a complete waste of your money.

There is no point in releasing the phones every year! Apart from their profits, There are no significant improvements on hardware side recently from any manufacturer. Only AI stuff.
Google added thermometer.
Apple added camera button.

We should just go back to the 2yrs cycle and save the planet

What do you expect to be different? They found a form factor that works and that's what people want. Most people just want a phone that holds a charge and works. And then the rest of us want a phone that holds a charge, works, and has a great camera.

Then there is a tiny portion of the population that wants a foldable or other niche phone.

I used to upgrade every year but now that phones are 1200 bucks I do it every 3 years (with the device payment plan credits)

Only a tiny fraction of the population upgrades their phone every year. Everyone else is on a multi-year cycle, it doesn't matter if they release a phone every year, people are still primarily on a multi-year cycle. Same with cars. They release new cars every year but people don't buy them every year...

My S22 Ultra is almost 3 years old now. So my question is should I take the 1000 dollar trade in at my carrier and get an S24 Ultra right now or should I wait a month and see if the S25 Ultra has the same trade-in offer and isn't twice the price.

Seems to me the only meaningful upgrade over the S24U is the 50mp wide angle sensor vs the 12mp sensor.

Thoughts?
