it allowed me to go through checkout as guest with no plan at $249/

Does this mean we can purchase without the plan and wait out 2 months?

No, you still need to activate it to get it unlocked. In the past, you can activate it with tracfone $10 plan on tracfone website even it's a straight talk phone. That would be cheaper than straight talk $35 plan

Like you activated a Walmart purchased straight talk phone directly through tracfone, or were there other steps?
thanks
Unlock doesn't depend on where or when you bought it, only depends on activation date. This applies to all TF brands like ST and TW. I believe the earlier Pixel deal was TW off the shelf from Target or something.

If I buy this phone without plan, then transfer my current Tracfone service to the phone's eSIM, will it be unlocked after 60 days?

Can anyone verify if this strategy has worked for them?

Bought this deal direct from straight talk + the cheapest $35 month plan they offer. Looking to upgrade my iPhone 11 on the Verizon network. Read online that straight talk's parent company is Verizon.
Despite this, I'm guessing I still have to wait out the 60 days for phone to unlock before I can pop in my existing sim from my iPhone 11 over to the 13, or can I pop my sim card into the iPhone 13 straight of the box because its using Verizon towers already?
Also, I'm having trouble understanding why the deal details only specifies one month of service is needed when the phone takes 60 days to unlock? I opted out of autopay at checkout screen because of this and just paid for the $35 month service along with the $250 phone at checkout.
The only thing I could find on their unlocking policy page is that, "The cellphone was activated with TracFone service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")." So I guess that means buying service for the phone, but implies it doesn't need to be continuous running service for it to unlock.

Rebranded a Total Wireless Pixel to Tracfone, still unlocked
When was this and does the process still work? Also how can this be done, would appreciate a link or brief steps. TIA

"it" = Straight talk or Walmart?
Both, there's no requirement to buy a plan to get it for$249.

No.
TracFone will remotely unlock the phone when it becomes eligible for unlocking, provided it meets the following conditions:

The cellphone must be in working condition and turned ON.
The cellphone has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
The cellphone was activated with TracFone service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")
For all cellphones Activated with TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the cellphone will be remotely unlocked automatically, sixty (60) days after Activation.

Not sure what strategy you're referring to, you have to buy a plan, and after activation of that plan the phone unlocks 60 days later.

It's locked to ST, the Verizon sim won't work until it's unlocked. Paying for 1 month is sufficient, many hundreds of SD users can verify.

I personally tried this. Although network is Verizon, did not accept my native Verizon wireless SIM. Its clearly got some "sub"-marker for the Straighttalk MVNO/SIM. So you will be locked out for the 60 days and will still need Straighttalk activation for at least one cycle.

To add, you can watch this thread from November, should be lots of post verifying unlock in the next 10 days.
