That can bring down the effective price to 204. (You still have to pay tax on 249 though)
Adding the link to the previous thread.
A bit more than the previous deal after taxes+fees but similar overall.
I purchased it last time and consensus was that you need to purchase the silver plan at minimum to get this price. Only need to buy one month of service. Wait another 30 days (60 days total) then the phone will be carrier unlocked.
It's $40 higher than BF deal since this only needs $35 plan but the BF deal needs $45 plan.

For my past experience, if the phone has never been tried to activate before, actually it's kind of like flex policy, it will be activate on any TracFone sub brands without rebranding. But after you try activation. Then it will be lock to that brand and you could have difficulties to activate it on other brands and then you have to contact with customer service to rebrand.
So basically after you get the phone, just try to activate it on Tracfone directly
Compared to older and newer models - these are very bad in retaining charge.
Is that a bad unit I got? Or straight talk units are like that typically?
It is locked to TW for 60 days
Just be aware that the last two iPhones that I upgraded from were bought this way and each was unlocked after 60 days.
"The cellphone was activated with TracFone service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")"

Just be aware that I've been activating my phones on TotalWireless since before and after they were acquired by Verizon.
So you will have to activate with a talk plan for the 60 day counter to activate, or has the countdown begun from the day you purchased it?

Cool, so you have the option of deciding the start date of your 60 day period. Any other advantage of buying directly at a Walmart store?
The 60 day period begins when you activate the phone. I purchased at walmart.com. I first tried buying in store but the Walmart store employee would not price match their website price.
Doesn't matter where you buy, the unlock policy is the same for all three brands - 30 day purchased plan needed then wait for 60 days for unlock.
It's mentioned over & over in every ST, TW and TF thread for the past 3 years.
I think you can always buy a plan later if it doesn't unlock. So just 60 more days and if you aren't in hurry, that's totally fine
Customers just need to be aware unlock policy can sometimes change - and only way to find out is usually by reading Howard Forums.
