I have a general question about these sorts of devices. Would using a "USB C Extension" cable be an issue?

For example, I would love to snag one of these, but the part that connects to my USB c port is shorter than I would need (want to mount it under my desk, so only one wire comes up to plug into laptop). Ive thought about buying this and just snagging an extension (USB-C female to male) to make it work, but don't want to lose ethernet speed or power ability. Thoughts?

I don't have this exact unit but have used my share of similar devices with all sorts of adapters/rigs to get things to work the way I need/want and have found them to be reliable. That being said, I haven't benchmarked speeds or anything like that and they have worked fine. The only thing I've noticed (in my case) is sometimes the multiple monitors can be a little wonky (and that's not using any adapters) where you'll have to re-insert the adapter or move it just a bit to get it to work. I do suspect that's an "issue" with my unit rather than all the units out there. Amazon has a decent return policy too, though, so you can always see if it works the way you like and if it doesn't, return it.

Truthfully, Im not doing anything crazy that needs wild internet speeds or monitor speed anyway, so I guess it's worth a try! I appreciate the help!
