I have a general question about these sorts of devices. Would using a "USB C Extension" cable be an issue?

For example, I would love to snag one of these, but the part that connects to my USB c port is shorter than I would need (want to mount it under my desk, so only one wire comes up to plug into laptop). Ive thought about buying this and just snagging an extension (USB-C female to male) to make it work, but don't want to lose ethernet speed or power ability. Thoughts?

I don't have this exact unit but have used my share of similar devices with all sorts of adapters/rigs to get things to work the way I need/want and have found them to be reliable. That being said, I haven't benchmarked speeds or anything like that and they have worked fine. The only thing I've noticed (in my case) is sometimes the multiple monitors can be a little wonky (and that's not using any adapters) where you'll have to re-insert the adapter or move it just a bit to get it to work. I do suspect that's an "issue" with my unit rather than all the units out there. Amazon has a decent return policy too, though, so you can always see if it works the way you like and if it doesn't, return it.

I appreciate this insight!

Truthfully, Im not doing anything crazy that needs wild internet speeds or monitor speed anyway, so I guess it's worth a try! I appreciate the help!
