The big cost over time is the filters. Consumer reports did reviews of many home air filters. For many you need to have them on high speed (loudest) settings to get the PM 2.5 properly filtered.

I used to use the app of my airmega 400 until I got a non wifi 400 for another room and realized I don't need it. All it really did was prompt me when the air was at "unhealthy" levels and boosting to high. A wifi version maybe helpful if you want to power on an off remotely but I just leave mine on and let the "smart" feature in the purifier do its thing.

Mine have been powered on for about 2 years now. Two Airmega 400 in my bigger rooms and 2 160s in my kids rooms.

Hmm.. Need something just to help with excessive dust in the house. Price seems good. I'll have to do some research on reviews.

When I click on the link to Walmart, it's showing a price of $151 for a blue one, and $104 for the white. Kind of wanted the blue, but it's no "deal" at $151.

i grabbed the 150 for like $120 ish. its a good quiet machine on standby. The sensor can be a bit sensitive to some. I enjoy it a lot, especially when I check the filter..

I got the blue one last week when I saw the forum post about it being $98. I love it so far. Lots of stuff on the prefer already, the air coming out smells nice and the white noise helps me sleep on level 3 fan. I can't hear it on level 1 or 2. It's bigger than I thought and glad I didn't get the 240.
I can cut my own carbon filters but it looks like the hepa is custom size so I'll need to replace that annually. It seems like a quality filter so I don't mind the price.

That 5th image..."Hospital crade ture H14 HEPA filter".

I ended up getting the coway based on wirecutters review and the long warranty.

This is generally not correct. If the filter is not properly seated and this helps seat it then it's bad design. Otherwise it's very tough to challenge minimum or maximum design conditions for face velocity across a HEPA, even ones as thin as these ~1" ones. If you need a certain air change rate, that is a different story.
