Still waiting on US Bank to give me my $400 bonus for the prior promo that required two deposits totaling more than $5000.
I manager a deposit at a big bank and we have offers like this all the time but to answer your question, we do NOT accept transfers (brokerage, wireless, or any other). a direct deposit has a certain transaction code and that's how we track it. can't speak for us bank but they likely do the same.
This is the only bank where I did not received account opening bonus out of ~20.

Kickback must be really good on this.
Too bad Slickdeals doesn't share any of the Cashback/bonus. Always better to shop around as other companies/sites do share the wealth.
You can have a good job, but by the time you pay heath ins, HSA, IRA...no go for most of these deals.
I agree, it sucks!
I just made a transfer from my Capital One savings and it shows as one of the two required deposits. So you don't need a regular DD for this to work. Lots of data points on various financial forums showing which banks have transfers that will count as a deposit on US Bank.
Does the deposit need to sit there for a certain period of time or can I transfer out next day?
Every **checking** bank promo I've done has no requirement for leaving the money in for any period of time. You should have no issues transferring it right out. In the promo tracker, I got a green check one or two days after my first deposit, so I'd just wait for it to show that the deposit counted, and then you can transfer it out.

I believe you but the terms clearly says otherwise, meaning it requires payroll DD. Can you point to other data points where people have confirmed that deposits from other accounts work? TIA.
This from their promo page:
A direct deposit is an electronic deposit of your paycheck made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network or an electronic deposit of your government benefits, such as Social Security, from your employer or the government. Other electronic deposits or person-to-person payments are not considered a direct deposit.

I scrolled to U.S. Bank (1.15) and saw a bunch of data points that Capital One transfers triggered as qualifying deposits. I was skeptical too, but gave it a try. It worked to my surprise.

Thanks. I see Amex HYSA deposits reported to have worked. Will give it a try.

US Bank is the only bank that ever denied applications for opening checking accounts (multiple times). The funny thing is that I have the Korean Air credit card with them already and my wife also had no issues in opening both a checking account and credit card.

Too bad Slickdeals doesn't share any of the Cashback/bonus. Always better to shop around as other companies/sites do share the wealth.
I would say at least 100 dollars kickback. Swag is offering that to members and it stacks..

As others have already said in this thread, if you log into the app/webapp for US Bank and click on your checking account, there's a tracker for all the promotional requirements. It shows which you've achieved.

It's common for brokerage promotions though.
