Worth noting the model here is different from the more common MHB9X in that the BTUs are higher so it will run hotter but also use fuel faster as a consequence, and this one has an electric ignition instead of piezo. Some people might prefer one over the other (I like piezo for simplicity and reliability, no battery required).

If you buy one for use with a regular propane tank (bbq style), get the Mr Heater official hose. People using regular tank hoses eventually run into problems where the plasticizers leach from the hoses as a clear oil which eventually blocks up the heater lines. They can be cleaned out but it can be a pain to do the job.

Mr Heater also now sells "Fuel Kegs", which are refillable 1lb tanks, refill kit sold separately, which can be refilled from your traditional 20lb tank. Safer than refilling the Coleman's, which have thinner walls, no relief valve, and aren't designed to be refilled (and are illegal to transport if you do so).

I've always thought this heater looked really cool. Almost bought it a few different times. Does it only hold one 1lb propane tank? Or does it hold two at a time like the big buddy?

BTU gives it away, but for those who may not be familiar, its important to note this is a propane gas heater, not electric for in home use.
False. This is indoor rated. https://www.mrheater.com/hunting-...eater.html

It says it will work with both 1lb and 20lb tanks.. for the 20lber to attach an accessory hose btw the tank and heater is needed. When using a larger tank it is recommended to use an inline filter as well. It's not clear in the pictures or description but does say swivel out regulators making me think possibly u could attach two 1 pounders at one time to the heater for extended use but not entirely sure.

Check this link [mrheater.com] - it shows that it does hold two tanks. I have one of these that's older, and it does a great job kicking out heat.

I heard something about the built-in fan. Does this model have a fan? Thanks

If you use a 20lb tank, be sure to get the inline filter as well, or the burner igniter will foul.

these type heaters are radiant heat only. no fan. But you genuinely don't need it. i use a smaller version to heat my entire living area (no kidding). Works great. But i do recommend that u buy accessories to hook up a larger tank.

I have a large 100-gall propane tank outside of the house to heat the entire living room and second floor. I don't see a fan would help much. The reason why I asked is because I want something for the garage/outdoor trip.

Mr Heater makes a line that doesn't require a filter it is more costly, but worth it

It runs off of one tank and it has a storage spot for a second tank.

I've heard that the ones with the fan are better. I have one but haven't used it yet.
