As a gift to friends, whenever I go to weddings, I slap on a laser AF flash with a knock off Gary Fong diffuser, stop it down to F7.1 and get incredible results from the dance floor without even needing to look down the viewfinder or at the LCD. With an old spare 70d, I also pass it around to people on the dance floor to let them use it and everything comes out in focus and tack sharp. I did the same at my own wedding and my friends who had been drinking for 8 hours straight and never used a DSLR were getting great shots.
I love this lens (the older version). Having said that, the focal range is limited enough that it almost seems like a prime. I bought the FF version of this lens (16-28mm) and I much prefer the crop version due to the weight. They are both built like tanks.
This version improved on almost every aspect of version 1.
As far as using this with an EF-M body, I also did that, but it wasn't my favorite due to the major weight imbalance. This was somewhat fixed by using a L-bracket grip, or with a body like an M50 with even a small grip. I used it on my original EOS M, but it just wasn't good ergonomics.
For anyone interested in astrophotography or anything else I mentioned, this lens is amazing and this is a great price.
